Wiim Amp: Connected passive speaker on/off via app?

Hi, as I can see, you can connect to the Wiim amp two pairs of passive speakers. Is it possible to switch them on or off via the Wiim App? So you can decide via which pair you can hear your music? And control the volume independently? Can you really switch them off or only control the volume to zero. I have one pair outside in the garden, do not want to play music there, when I am not outside.

No I don’t believe that is possible. There’s no way the WiiM amp will know that two separate pairs of passive speakers are connected. You would need two separate WiiM amps connected in a group to turn them on or off.

What makes you think that you can connect two speaker pairs to the Amp? You can‘t.
Passive speakers cannot be ‚swithed on / off‘. The current that‘s running them comes from the amp.

You can connect two pairs of speakers to the amp. You just can’t turn them on or off as the OP wants to do.

Wire them in parallel. The amp can handle down to 4 ohms.
That‘s usually not a good idea and not according to the specs of the Amp but rather a DIY thing.
So it is wrong to say that one can connect two pairs of speakers as a stand-alone statement. If someone decides to do that on his own account he should know that he won‘t be able to alternate the output pair.

Hi Team,

Regarding your inquiry about speaker configurations with the WiiM Amp:

For 8-Ohm Speakers: You can connect up to four speakers in parallel to a single WiiM Amp. This setup is ideal for maximizing the Amp's capacity while ensuring optimal performance.

For 4-Ohm Speakers: We recommend connecting only two speakers to one WiiM Amp.

I hope it clarifies. Thank you!

I couldn‘t care less. Hardly any speaker will fulfill its nominal rating over the full frequency spectrum. Most are far from it.
Digital amps have no headroom. So an impedance dip of four speakers driven at a good listening level will either make the Amp clip or drive it into its limiter.

I am confused now. There are four speaker terminals. I assumed for 2 pairs of speaker (2x stereo). Isn't that the case? How should I use the four terminals instead? In parallel (4x mono). How do you use it?
I am using a Yamaha RN2000 A streaming amp too. It has also 2 pairs of speaker terminals. And I can switch between A and B and AB and non of them via the Musiccast app. Thought it will be the sam with the Wiim amp, but wanted to get sure.

There are two speaker terminals. Left side has a positive and negative binding post and right side has a positive and negative binding post.

Each speaker needs a plus and a minus, thus two per speaker. Times 2 for two speakers makes four binding posts for one pair of speakers. Can you follow?

The Yamaha has two sets of four terminals making 8 in total, for two sets of two speakers and their L/R channels . The WiiM amp only has one set of four terminals : +/- for L and +/- for R for one set of two speakers. While you could connect two sets of two speakers, they’d be wired in parallel but the amp has no knowledge of that and therefore can’t select one set over another.
