My WiiM Amp is forgetful. Not always but maybe 50% of the time. Whatever was playing previously has been forgotten and so user intervention is needed to select the source again. This is irritating as a key feature is the ability to press on the control knob to start playing or press play on the remote.

The amp has not been powered off/on to cause this. I appreciate that this would likely lose the ‘last played’. Can’t believe this is just me?

Welcome.

Does it depend on what's playing?
What are you playing? Local files, streaming from within wiim app, streaming from external app etc.?

The problem has been observed playing BBC Radio stations that are then saved as favourites. I have set up some other services - both streamed (Amazon Music) and local music files served by a NAS. But the primary use case has been the radio stations so I can’t really say if the problem is limited to that.

The WiiM amp is WiFi connected as the placement of it is determined by the speaker wiring and lacks any wired Ethernet cabling there. The router has not been rebooted nor has there been any drop in the Internet service to the home.

What happens if you save a BBC radio to a preset and start playing it using the preset button on the remote?

You say the amp has not been powered off but I believe WiiMs reboot automatically every so often.

Andy, I think on the radio station you have to accept that the way that it works ( I believe ) is that if you hit pause playing a live radio station, it will buffer for a certain amount of time before running out of memory. The stream will then stop. I am not sure if streaming services are the same although I think they pause at source. You could use mute/ unmute on the remote, but I think @slartibartfast is completely correct in that the wiim will look for updates, reboot to clear cache and both will stop the streams. I also think @Wiimer has a good point. Set up your radio as a preset and power your device into action using the preset. Turn off your device when not in use.
Edit:
When I say "Turn off" I mean put the amp into standby
