Hi all,

I have the WiiM amp, and I have just bought the pro jet cd box e.

I have the cd transporter connect to the Wii amp using rca cables.

What I want to know is can I use the wiim remote to control any of the functions of the cd transporter?

At the moment I have to use the wiim remote for volume, and the pro jet remote for all other functions. I would love to use one remote.

Would it change if I connected the cd transporter digitally (optically) so that it uses the wiims dac instead? Would this move more of the controls to the wiim remote?

Thanks,
Dylan

Welcome.

No, the wiim remote can't control the cd player.
The cd digital output is coax, not optical. The wiim amp does not have a coax input.

Oh, and you are using the wiim dac already ;)
The wiim analog input is digitised, so you are using both the cd dac and the wiim adc and dac.

Please share a photo of this setup.

I'm curious to see the dimensions of both, relative to each other.

Open google, type, search.
20 secs later...:)
  • 206mm Width
  • 160mm Depth (incl. sockets)
  • 55mm Heigh
But yeah, a photo might be nice!

Yes, dimensions are easy enough. But really it's more a question about the aesthetic.

10 points if you can superimpose the Googled image with an amp and have it be dimensionally accurate.

Thanks very much for the response! So for the cd dac to be used it would have to be plugged into an amp that can receive analogue signal through RCA?

For only the cd dac to be used it would need to be rca into an amp that doesn't digitise the analog input.
The wiim amp does digitise the rca input so it can perform all its (digital) magic... EQ, multiroom, volume, usb output etc.

Hi there,

So if I was to instead buy a cheap dvd player to use as a cd player, regardless of me connecting the dvd player to the optical or rca connection, it will always use the wiim dac?

I ended up returning the project cd box e because it was sticking at the loading phase for a long time, so now I am considering getting a dvd player and connecting it to a rca switch box and having both my turntable and dvd player connected to the rca input of the wiim amp.

The WiiM DAC is only used when its analogue output is used irrespective of its input.

So if we specially talk about a cd player that can be connected both by RCA and Optical, in this circumstance both connections will use the wiims dac because as you noted the dac is used for the analogue RCA output, and the optical is going to bypass the dac in the cd player regardless and use the wiims anyway?

You got it. (y)
