WiiM Amp Ultra Experience

There are loads of amps that adjust their power rails based on the speakers they "see" and also a lot of them with bad or slow protection circuits (some Denon's for instance) will fry their power transistors if the 2 conductors (of one channel or both) touch each other.

So the amp would see an infinite resistance during the setup. And I have no plan to connect the speakers to the powered amp.

Extra: In pro audio the rule is. The power amps are the last devices to be powered up and the first to shutdown. Always with all speaker cabinets connected. See what happens for instance if a mixer connected to the amps is powered up last. The bank of amps will treat the speaker cabinets to a very "vocal" thump that can ruin some drivers. These amps put out 1 or 2K watt per channel easily. This example is not completely the same as what we are talking about now but as an illustration of what also not to do and why.

Of course, but this is for the combination of equipment. I see no issue in having a sole amp like the Amp Ultra with speakers disconnected during the setup.

Self oscillation in the power section for instance, depends on how the power section is constructed.
No! No respectable amplifier designer would release an unstable product sans load.

Well I give up then. The warning about this exact scenario is in the manual.
It would be better if the manual gave a reason. It is often recommended to measure left and right speakers and subwoofer separately when doing room correction. To do this the amp would need to run with the speakers disconnected.

Solid state amps are protected against it, especially the ones for home usage. As far as I know.
In reference solid state designs they ought to be but I simply tell you that it is not so black and white as you think it is. But I already gave up and will shut up now. Have it your way, everyone is free to do as the please off course.
