WiiM Amp Ultra Experience

In reference solid state designs they ought to be but I simply tell you that it is not so black and white as you think it is. But I already gave up and will shut up now. Have it your way, everyone is free to do as the please off course.
I would like to know as early as possible if the amp is not designed to be powered on without speakers (although it shouldn't be a problem)... An initial setup is a good moment in time.

Moving on…

I measured the temperature of the Amp Ultra (top surface) and saw about 110F (43C) in a 80F (27C) ambient temperature. Pretty normal.

Edit: defined measured surface.

My copy did not complain.

Is it Naim amps that aren't happy unless you use a particular speaker cable?
As far as I remember Main used to ask for either their own NACA speaker cable or alternatively a 4 mm² cable twisted twice or so per meter. They also asked users to use equal cables of at least 3.5 m or something like that.

Absolutely no damage would occur with typicalal standard speaker cable. The amps were said to possibly not be stable into very high capacity boutique cables. I should have an old manual lying around.

Looks like this thread might need some clean-up.

I knew there was a chance vol was not at zero. That might create a chance to drive speakers too loud. Not an issue at vol 50, but it is good practice to always turn on an amp with pre vol at zero in my experience.
Indeed.
It may have been something I did inadvertently while setting up, but my initial volume was much, much higher.
I could look back at my post, but iirc it was around 95. That would have been a shock.
