Hello,

I have a Wiim ultra and i want and amplifier for my setup

Should i buy the vibelink, or buy the new Amp ultra and sell the Ultra that i have?

What are the main diferences? The sound is the same?

Thanks,

The WiiM Vibelink Amp is WiiM's power amplifier meant to compliment the WiiM Ultra.

The WiiM Amp Ultra is an all-in-one system duplicating most (but not all) of the Ultra's functionality. I see no point in adding an Amp Ultra to the Ultra.

I don't want to keep the ultra if i buy the amp ultra. The question it's between buyin the vibelink, or just use the new amp ultra

Sorry, I didn't read carefully.

By selling the WiiM Ultra you would mainly loose the phono input and the headphon output and (most probably) some money. The one and only thing the WiiM Amp Ultra can do better than the WiiM Vibelink Amp is dealing with low impedance speakers (like below 3 ohms). It also takes up less space than the Ultra + Vibelink Amp combo, of course.

It's up to you and your priorities.

Having one device less is an upgrade in itself in my eyes!
An unpopular opinion in audio enthusiast circles, I know, I know... :censored::D
And one less power connection to find…

I quickly lose count of the usb and power cables I have to drive my tv, router, isp modem, fire tv devices, echos, Philips hub, hive heating hub, harmony hub, amp, numerous WiiM devices, raspberry PIs etc all along one unit in my living room…

I think not only that, you will lose modularity and the ability to use a discreet external upscale DAC (say for DSD compatibility) or an entirely different amplifier to drive those 'special' speakers. Don't get me wrong WiiM did a whiz bang job of integrating every feature you want in one small package so long as you are happy with all the pieces. But then trade off is the ability to design a system (or change) with custom characteristics. If space is the primary consideration go with a small integrated box. If flexibility is, you can't beat all the port options on the WiiM as a front end streamer.

Not really. You can still use the USB output of the WiiM Amp Ultra to connect any DAC you prefer and, of course, connect any amplifier you want.

It may not make too much sense to buy an integrated amp if all you really want is a streamer. But you're not really losing a lot of flexibility. It all depends on what you need.

That's a very good point. I didn't realize they even considered putting a USB port on the Amp Ultra.
