Hello guys,

I recently paired my KEF Q1 Meta bookshelf speakers with a WiiM Amp Ultra.

I primarily listen to electronic music, which some songs has deep bass lines. While testing the system, I was playing Trampoline (Jauz Remix) by SHAED. When I increased the volume to 75, I noticed a distinct "pop" or "clipping" sound during the heaviest bass drop so I had to turn down the volume and around 60-65, the track plays perfectly clean with no issues.

Have you had any similar "issues"? I think is not that high to the speakers start popping with the bass.

I know I need a subwoofer, I'm planning to buy SVS SB-1000 Pro.

Thanks in advance!

Could be the speakers are reaching their excursion limit due to sub-bass content they can't reproduce.
You can try to add a high-pass filter at 50Hz and see if that helps. An easy way to do it is to just enable the sub output and set crossover frequency to 50Hz (it will work as a high-pass for the mains with no sub connected).
If the issue persists try to increase the frequency a bit.

Q1 Metas are like baby 2-way satellites and are being driven to their excursion limit. The problem will be 100% resolved once you high-pass filter them to integrate the SB-1000.

Nice sub, by the way.

Thank you yeah I'm gonna use the Subwoofer Out option to crossover (even if I don't have Subwoofer the option can be activated) at 55-80 Hz to play safe if I ever want to try some songs on high level music but I'm not gonna turn the volume up in a daily or weeklt basis.
