Yeah. I got a new company car way back when and got them to rip out its audio/radio to fit a Sony minidisc player unit instead...

There was a firmware upgrade in August which seemed to have solved the problem, but there is no guarantee that it won’t return. I mainly play vinyl, so the CD player is not too much of an issue and I do expect it to return. As I have said previously, it was the price (and size) which attracted me to this model.

CD displays are the bare minimum. It beats me that CD players never displayed at least the track titles. The only device which I know of that does metadata is the Brennan B3. Are there others?

I have been looking for a long time for a CD player that searches for metadata in Musicbrainz or other sites. There used to be BD players (from Sony, I think) that searched into Gracenote, but the service has been discontinued.
My preferred option would be that Wiim implements a system like Rose or Eversolo do, ie the possibility of connecting a hardware CD drive via USB, and then do all the playing and metadata search and display by software. Like what some players on a PC do as well (@RyanWithWiim , @WiiM Team , are you listening ?)
Anyhow, if anybody knows of other CD players that do metadata search and display, please suggest! From my side, it looks like the Brennan Helix is a good option.

That's a neat idea! You should add it to the feature request section so people to vote on it. But I'll pass it along too.
