WiiM Group volume control

When playing from Spotify to a WiiM group (a Pro Plus and an Ultra) they both play as expected but there is a minor issue with the volume control from the Spotify app (via Connect).

The Pro Plus has output set to fixed 100% while the Ultra is not fix and plays to the main speakers.

When trying to regulate the volume in the Spotify app it shows full volume initially and nothing happens when changing the volume.

As the Pro Plus is the first device in the group (alphabetically?) it looks like the Connect uses the volume from this instead of using the group volume?

In the WiiM Home App the volume control work on the group volume as expected.

Is this the expected behaviour or is it a bug?

Surely spotify has no idea the wiims are in a wiim group.

The main device in a WiiM group is the one you first choose and then link other devices to. Guess you could try selecting your ultra then link the pro plus to that and see what happens.

No. But should the WiiM group implementation not use the group volume instead of the volume of the first device in the group?

I think that is part of the Spotify Connect implementation in the WiiM devices.

Spotify do of course not know about this and it also tries to change the volume. You can see that in the app.

This is the new group feature, not linking. I don't see how to define the order of the devices.

Have you tried linking rather than grouping in that manner? They may be moving away from the idea of a main speaker in persistent groups so that you can drop any speaker from a group while playing, but as far as I recall that’s easier done for some sources than others.

It is the same issue if I link the Pro Plus first. That is expected as I then cast to it.

For the group I cannot control the order and would expect the group volume to be used
