I'm hoping for help in getting this setup and hoping there's a quick easy way that someone figured out and can share the how to. Essentially i have the WiiM mini and a Fire HD 8 (12th gen) that i've sideloaded the WiiM home app on through the Google Play store. Generally I have only been using the Fire HD 8 tablet to show an Amazon photos slideshow and to show my Ring doorbell when someone rings the bell but i'd also love the ability to show my WiiM home app now playing whenever I use the WiiM app from my phone. Is this possible at all? I also have a Logitech Harmony hub if this is an option to get things working?

The challenge for a Fire tv app is how to achieve navigation through the menus just using the remote. For side-loaded apps you'll probably need a mouse enabled - more trouble than it's worth 
So I did manage to find a workaround by adding Fire TV stick device to my Harmony hub remote and linking it to the Fire HD via Bluetooth and creating an activity that presses the apps button twice when turning on or off my stereo so that it switches between my only 2 open apps on the Fire HD; Amazon Photos & WiiM home app. So far it's working nicely but is prone to going out of sync I'm sureThe challenge for a Fire tv app is how to achieve navigation through the menus just using the remote. My point about fire tv & Android tv still applies - no manageable menu navigation with the remote.
See my post above it's doable with a harmony remote so probably can achieve even better results with some form of script automation

It's not the WiiM that i setup with the harmony remote, it was the Fire HD 8 tablet by adding a Fire TV stick device to my Harmony config which works with the Fire HD, it's not as difficult as you think. I'm now able to use the Fire HD as a display device when listening to my WiiM and it seems to be working well just need to trial & error the steps in Harmony to ensure consistent switching between apps on the Fire HD as currently not working 100% of the time which i think is due to idle time on the tabletWhat's a 'within approach'?

A simple Now Playing app for Fire & Android tv is probably what most people would appreciate. No need for a complicated menu structure.
That would be the ideal but doesn't appear to be on the horizon, not officially at least

Just make a browser based version of WHA. That should cover most devices and allow a "Now Playing" on any device supporting a browser.How difficult would it be, I wonder?

The browsers in fire tv and Google tv are awful. I've tried with LMS - clunky
Here's how a browser looks for Lyrion (LMS) - excellent for tablets/phones
