Hello everyone, I've been using the Mini for about a year now and am really happy with it. The device is connected to active speakers via fiber optic cable at 24/96. Everything has always worked great, but for about a month now, the device has been losing its connection to the router almost every day, or rather, it can no longer be found on the network. I then always have to disconnect the power supply so that it can be found again. Now another problem has cropped up. When a stream is running, it sometimes just freezes and produces nothing but constantly repeating noise. Could this be a firmware error, or should I assume that there is a technical defect? Thanks

Michael

Hi

Please try rebooting the router first.
Have there been any recent changes to the network environment (e.g. router changes)?

Or did you add further devices to your network?

Make sure to not assign a fixed IP address to the WiiM Mini in the WiiM Home app. Use IP address reservation in the router's DHCP settings instead if you want to make sure it's getting the same IP.

Also check if the number of assignable IP addresses is sufficient for the number of devices connecting (hence my initial question).

All devices are assigned an IP address by the router (FritzBox) via DHCP, and this remains permanently stored. I haven't made any changes, but it seems to me that this coincides with the latest FW update. Anyway, I restarted the FritzBox again, but I'll have to keep an eye on it.

It was or is always connected per 5ghz. There were no problems this morning, I will continue to monitor the situation.

I have been using a Mini at work for over two years on a daily basis. Never a moment's problem, WiFi strength is about 50% and the router is situated about 10 metres away with two double brick walls in between, so no, not planned obsolescence.

Perhaps a stupid suggestion, but try moving the Mini to at least 5-6m away from the router. It might be "overpowered" with too strong a signal.

Yesterday evening, I did a hard reset on the device (pressed the play button for 10 seconds until the LED flashed red) and then set it up again. I'll keep an eye on it. By the way, the device didn't show any issues during setup. Question: I have an Ubuntu mini server running alongside my WiiM Mini (with Plex, etc.) to which a USB DVB-C receiver from Hauppauge is also connected. Could this device be causing WiFi interference? I connected it a similar amount of time ago, but have never used it (no antenna cable is connected).

Update: After a short time, the device disconnected from the Wi-Fi again. This time, however, I was able to see it happen live while listening to music. There was a loud crackling noise from the speakers, and the device could no longer be found. Unplug the power source and plug it back in, and it will be found again. If you think this is due to the speakers, it has always happened at night without the speakers being active. How long is the warranty period for this device? Purchased in Germany.

Typically a year’s warranty, although I’d contact your retailer first.
