Wiim mini remote

Hi Guys,
I just got my Wiim mini, AI was telling that it is not possible to add remote for mini, but in the first configuration when I started pairing it with phone it asked me if I want to pair the remote. So how it is? Can I just order remote and I will be able to pair it?

Yes, you can use a WiiM remote with your WiiM Mini. I have been doing the same with mine.

probably a stupid question, but why does a remote need to "pair" with your phone?
i assume all buttons function thru spotify without your phone needing to be connected at all right? so you can load playslists, skip tracks etc without it.

Yeah, you can fully control everything with the phone, but I prefer to be able to control with remote as well, just phone sometimes used for other activities or not by me. And remote is connecting to Wiim, not to phone.

The remote does not get paired to a phone. The remote gets paired to a specific WiiM to control that WiiM.

Spotify is controlled by the Spotify app on the phone, computer, tablet, etc. Spotify sees the WiiM as a Spotify connect device (e.g. speaker). So you are correct in saying that you do not need a phone to play Spotify through your WiiM.
