Sorry! I've studied this subject on here to death and still get confused... so here's my question and I am sure an answer will reveal itself!
I use Roon Muse to apply an EQ setting for my headphones, I want to transfer that setting to my Wiim Pro as I'm thinking of dropping Roon subscription and using Qobuz Connect directly (when it arrives, it seems currently at least one Beta Tester is very happy with the results!). Transferring the values is no problem, but my Roon PEQ screen has a pre-gain setting to avoid digital clipping which I have always used (Roon has a clipping indicator and its obvious you can't go lifting frequencies without pre-gain reduction in digital volume).
Now I know this subject has been covered way back, but the app has been updated since then so...
My Roon pre-gain reduction is -5.4dB for the PEQ I'm using, but in Wiim there are so many ways to reduce digital volume I have lost myself in the explanations on here completely! To my mind the nice new Input Pre-Gain setting is ideal, its already set in dB's so no need to go working out what percentage of max.volume reduction is necessary to achieve 5.4dB reduction (yes I know its 9%) and so it would seem the obvious place to apply this adjustment? What's the consensus?
(Of course for those with a number of different headphones all requiring EQ then the obvious place for PEQ pre-gain would be in the PEQ settings themselves, but that doesn't seem to have worked its way into the WiiM thinking yet - not that I'm championing yet another place for digital volume adjustment!!!
