I am looking for a multi-room audio setup using some kind of DLNA source and am looking at a WiiM Pro Plus with wired ethernet connection which would sync wirelessly with 2-3 WiiM Minis.
Would this work with either bluetooth or AirPlay (no wifi)?
I assume initial configuration of the WiiMs can be done via bluetooth from an iPhone or iPad?

No. Only a TCP network connection will work. That can be over WiFi or cabled Ethernet. All connected to same logical IP network.

That's a shame, thanks for the quick response!
I do have a couple of wifi networks (basically IoT and guest) but they are logically separated from my wired vlans for security reasons so that's a non-starter.
I guess I could go down the route of multiple Pro Pluses, all wired...

You will still need a phone or tablet for setup and control, and that is usually via WiFi.

Hmm, I was hoping that a Windows laptop (or even a vm on that vlan) would have worked.
Glad I asked before making a purchase, thanks again!

Ethernet should get your WiiM devices on the network so it shouldn't matter how the devices are hosted on the network as long as they are. I haven't tested this on WiiM but works for me in other scenarios between Mac and iPad with Wifi off on the Mac while connected to ethernet. FYI, multi-room/group is throttled down to 16/44.1 and updating the software is not a priority of WiiM's at the moment. I use Parallels desktop VM at times on Mac to manage it's own connection to the network and it works fine...just another node on the network with its own VPN setup as wellj, so I don't think a VM or VLAN (not familiar personally) would be an issue as long as it's visible on the network.

As commented elsewhere, I believe Linkplay/Wiim groups support up to 24/48.

What gives you the impression that software updates are no longer a priority for Wiim?

I read the comment as referring to supporting higher sample rates in a group, not a general statement.

The updates regarding multi-room hi-res are not on the release schedule or being pursued per WiiM support. They also confirmed all multi-room is throttled to 16/44.1 and requires a software update. They said the hardware can handle it. They also clarified that even if mult-room/group is being used and a higher resolution than 16/44.1 appears it is reflecting the incoming source, not the outgoing resolution from WiiM. Disappointing given it's firmware/software that needs to be updated and not component related.

My amp/DAC tells a different story - it shows 24/48 from my Ultra and Mini when I group them, or the actual input rate if they’re not grouped. In fact, during MRM it looks like it resamples everything to 24/48 no matter what the input resolution.

And, let us know, is the difference between lousy CD quality and high resolution 24/48 not a life-changing one? 😂😂😂😂😂
