WiiM Pro Plus Firmware v4.8.732046 Update - Oct 10, 2025

Please review the WiiM Pro Plus update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

4.8.732046 (In Progress)

Release date:

10 / 10 / 2025

What's New:
  1. TuneIn: Automatically selects the highest-quality stream.

Bug Fixes:

  1. YouTube Music: Fixed playback noise and incorrect metadata.
  2. TIDAL Connect: Corrected metadata display.
  3. Qobuz Connect: Fixed the issue where gapless playback was not working.
  4. Google Cast: Fixed occasional no-sound issues.
  5. SoundTrack: Fixed missing audio during the first two seconds of announcements.
  6. YouTube Music Group Playback: Fixed no-sound issue when switching to group playback.

I’ve just installed the new firmware.
Qobuz Connect gapless playback seems OK, but sometimes playback stops and the only way to recover the control of the Wiim Pro Plus is rebooting.
Example
Artist: Richard Ashcroft
Album: Lovin’ You
Playback stops after track 2
The same album plays OK if I do not use Qobuz Connect.

Did you try skipping to the next track? I had similar when it wouldn’t move on at the end of a track and the play/pause icons had no effect. I wasn’t using the Pro Plus but another WiiM device

Just tried playing from track 4 thru 7 on my Pro Plus with the latest firmware and another WiiM device using Qobuz Connect from my IPad - both play track 6 and go on to track 7 no issue.

Try power cycling your Pro Plus (disconnect it from power, wait a few moments and re-connect it) and try again.

If it still stalls, submit a ticket to WiiM via the more/feedback section in the WiiM home app.

I did what you suggested. If I play the album from track 4 it's ok, but if I play the album from the beginning the issue occurs again. I guess it depends on how tracks are buffered in order to perform gapless playback.
There is another version of the same album
Live At The Apollo (Expanded Edition)
where tracks are split differently and it plays ok.
I submitted a ticket.

I usually listened Radio Swiss Jazz in aacplus quality. Now after the firmware update i receive this station in MP3 quality.

Skipping does not work, the only solution is rebooting.
Another example:
James Brown Live At The Apollo, 1962 https://open.qobuz.com/album/xm2er41d896pb
stops after track 6.
Definitely a Pro Plus issue.
The same album plays without issues from Qobuz Connect to my Bluesound Node Nano on the same network.
Hi @deaste,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused!
Please help us investigate this issue by sending feedback through the WiiM Home app: go to the More tab and tap Feedback. Our engineers will look into it promptly once received.

I use Tunein Radio service, under WiiM home app.
Ok, i was able to reproduce the same. I am getting 128kbps 16bit/48Khz stream for that Radio Swiss Jazz station. The firmware release notes said that highest quality stream would be used. I think aac+ 96kbps 24bit/48khz is superior in quality to mp3 128kbps 16bit/48khz... so, @WiiM Team: the new firmware update for TuneIn is just selecting based on higher bitrate and no other codec quality considerations? That's dangerous approach.

The statement is a little surprising because in any case, the aac+96 should not be so significantly better... a little... but remains modest...a rather destructive compression at 96k ;-)
(even if the "aac+" (sbr) standard is more interesting than mp3)

It is aac+96 24bit/48khz. It is superior. Also the broadcast radio annouces it as it superior quality stream in its page...yet tuneIn selects automatically the mp3 128kbps. TuniIn app also does the same by the way, so apparently the wiim firmware is just replicating what the TuneIn app does.

even if the "aac+" (sbr) standard is more interesting than mp3, more like "mp3 "pro"... (but you are not a 256 or 320)

Wiim can use "aac+"? Aac sure...but "+" "sbr" ??
(Mp3 pro?)

(You can watch the streams of Radio France or FIP...dedicated channels...but there too unfortunately compressed...(192 aac).
disappointing from a big institution...on the "demanding" channels... too limited)
