I know there are 320 flac streams etc... just my point "blabla" about forcing through DAB+, the case in my country, lousy audio rating "sold..." "digital quality"... AAC 192 VBR is already too limited...

(thanks for the BBC stream..I thought there were restrictions for outside the UK )

(Aac+ is use for limited quality audio/ small flux...)
audio quality was not the only stated reason to implement DAB

I know...but the problem is that it's anything but progress in terms of sound, going against the grain of other efforts towards high quality (justified or not).

I suppose most people listening to DAB are doing it on a tiny portable radio or in the car.

It is aac+96 24bit/48khz. It is superior. Also the broadcast radio annouces it as it superior quality stream in its page...yet tuneIn selects automatically the mp3 128kbps. TuniIn app also does the same by the way, so apparently the wiim firmware is just replicating what the TuneIn app does.
In the android app of tunein you can choose the Stream. Now Wiim app choose for you.
So, open the system and let the user to choose the stream. Freedom. Thank you

You already have the freedom to use the TuneIn app and play the stream quality of your choice through Google Cast. There's no further impact on sound quality and Google Cast not being gapless isn't relevant for uninterrupted radio streams.

Just a reminder.

I'm talking about freedom of choose streams but using our great WiiM app.
Naturally we all have other software options for stream stations.
My only purpose is help to build Up a better WiiM App including options in the Stream quality. Thats all. Thank you.

True but there is no point in having the app choose the "best" stream if it doesn't work reliably. How did it work previously? Did it give a choice of streams or just choose one at random?

Yes. This was the whole point of the discussion. Wiim anounced a new feature in the firmware consisting of TuneIn plugin selecting the best available stream but one example of incorrect selecion has been found already: Radio Swiss Jazz offers mp3 128kbps and AAC+ 96kbps and the first was chosen while on paper the second is better.
So the new feature is as opaque as before, why not allow same freedom as original TuneIn as @CanaryWiimer suggests?

What was it like before? I ask because TuneIn is useless in UK so I don't use it.
