I believe I have all of the settings correct on the wiim and Amazon music app.. I can easily play high res from Amazon music while in the wiim home app but I cant get high res to cast directly from the Amazon music app to the wiim? Suggestions? I looked at the help articles and I followed the steps..nothing worked.

In the WiiM Home app, on the Browse page, in the Music Services section choose Amazon Alexa and enter your Amazon/Alexa credentials. The Amazon Alexa entry is near the top of the list of services on iOS, but strangely at the bottom for Android. If it doesn’t appear on the list at all, select Music Services and toggle it on in that page.

You can then check in your Alexa app where your WiiM should then appear as a device under Echo&Alexa on the devices tab.
Ok, all of that was done correctly and my wiim shows up under the Alexa devices in the Alexa app. I still only see the square cast icon…weird!

Also,
I only see this setting under the Alexa setting in the wiim app
(No option for ultra HD).

You’ll not see an option there for hi res as it’s only there for the mini to allow it to opt out of hi res playback in Alexa multi room music groups which it doesn’t support.

I think you might need to try a few “nuclear” options, checking if you can see the WiiM for casting with the round AlexaCast icon after each set of steps:

1. If you’re on Android, force stop the amazon music app and clear its cache. Or alternatively delete and re install the amazon music app, which is your only option on iOS. Note that deleting the app will delete any downloaded tracks as well which you’ll need to re download after re installing. Log into the same Amazon account you used in the WiiM app to link to Alexa. Check.

2. Unlink Alexa from the WiiM Home app by signing out on the Alexa page in the WiiM app. Delete and re install the WiiM app and re link to Amazon Music and Alexa as previously mentioned using the same Amazon account. Check.

3. Power cycle your router, and then your WiiM device. Check.

4. Factory reset your WiiM device, and re link Amazon Music and Alexa. Check.

5. If all that fails, submit a ticket to WiiM so they can inspect your device logs.

Good luck…

As an aside, given you have the Pro Plus that comes with a remote, can you ask Alexa to play some music you know is 24/96 or 24/192 via the remote and see what the WiiM Home app Now Playing screen shows? If that works ok, then it would suggest an issue with the Amazon Music app and not necessarily the WiiM and Amazon Music per se.

Figured it out! I’m using my own Amazon login for music so my wife and I don’t have the same playlists etc in the Amazon music app….ughh! It’s the family plan, and she shares it with me. Totally forgot.

Yeah, account/profile issue, not uncommon, that's why we've been asking re same account etc. We've all been there ("Alexa, whose account is this?" ;) ), just glad you got to the bottom of it.

Glad you sorted this out. I tend to cast from Amazon app more often than directly from WiiM. I just wish the queueing worked when casting 🤔👍

Thanks everyone!

I believe I had all of the settings correct on the wiim Pro+ too, and Amazon music app - same challenge: I can easily play high res from Amazon music ONLY while in the WiiM home app, UNTIL...I logged in to Amazon Alexa! only then did the WiiM Pro+ become a 'native' option as a device (not An AirPlay/Chromecast device) chosen from Amazon Music UI. Now Amazon UltrHD tracks are seen by my external DAC when played through Amazon Music UI.

Alexa must be acting as an agent-device to enable Amazon Music UI to send direct to WiiM with bit-perfect pass through in tact. (i'm sure someone could explain this better! Did I miss this in the manual?)
