Hi to everyone. Since the last wiim home app update I feel some changes with treble reproduction. It sounds edgy and more metallic. My filter is always the softer sounding of all 6: "super slow...nos " one.
Can it be that this filter isn't working for any cause?
Thank u.

Hi Jorge !
I have the same soundproblems , with both of my Pro Plus .
They were nice and round sounding , now harder and the " Ssss " are very sharp .
I do not like that !

Could you fix that problem on your device ?
Kind regards ,

I was thinking the same on my Ultra but had just moved the speakers so thought that was the cause.

@WiiM Team Was anything changed on the filters?
I use the optical output, so it is not the DAC but maybe in the DSP?

I admit that I also ask myself the question ... even if my "plus" is only for modest use on non-demanding compressed radios... I found myself putting a peq to turn off the brightness which in my opinion is excessive and tiring over time... but it could also be due to the audio processing of these radios on their streams... I will have to check with other sources...

1.Check if you have fixed SRC output on, in the WiiM app - turn this function off.
2.You cant use 100% volume if using PEQ or shelving with higher Q than 0.7. - the digital output will clip

my observation is without peq on internal dac...
I will check the src..( but I'm on constant flows)

I had the same experience when comparing the WiiM Ultra to my Cambridge ST60, using digital out to active speakers.
Ultra sounds "harder", more boomy.
Finally returned the Ultra, unfortunately as I liked the small form factor and nice easy to use App

This was about a sudden change in the sound after an firmware update. The sound was ok before. It's all about the configuration of the DSP. It can easily be corrected by the EQ.

Which Ultra FW version caused that issue? Mine is 5.2.633437 and no issues. App is running on iOS.
For my Ultra it was 5.2.629945.

I don't know if it still there? Either I have got used to it or it have been fixed.

It was just that you could hear the sound changed. It was not much, only a bit more sharp (as I remember it).

You ought to update that...

I have tried several EQ settings which improved the sound quality a little, but voices and instruments keep sounding a little blurred.
I just read some issue of the DSP or digital out being clipped when volume set to max (of fixed volume). Unfortunately this may be the cause of loss if sound quality...
I had to return the Ultra as my 30 day return period expired....

No such thing.

If you are (or have been using) EQ with positive gain then adjusting the volume limit might be required. Personally I haven't come across such a case yet.

Try the room correction ability before you send it back. Set it at 40 - 2000 Hz with maximum gain = +3 and Q = 5 .

You can then save the correction and go in and change the values manually to taste.

Hi. Sorry I didn't read you before. First I'm wondering if the wiim app could change the sound of the wiim or if it's the wiim pro plus firmware who does it or maybe both. I felt the same as you. We lost some general warmth.
Let me tell you that I realized that many Spotify tracks or songs sounds too edgy or harsh and I avoid them completely, but there's a lot of songs that sound amazingly good. Anyway I still feel that wiim team did something with treble. It's annoying because I don't want they touch my sound!!! I never use equalizer or room correction function, just but I use the sync option for speakers. Let me know if the "treble thing" has been fixed in your wiiim with the latest wiim pro plus firware.
Greetings to you and a hug from Buenos Aires, Argentine.

You purchase hifi equipment but your source is Spotify? You do realize that service is lossy.

I understand the sentiment, but I occasionally use Spotify too and it can sound pretty good.
Sometimes I wonder if it really does sound that much worse or if I just expect it to not sound as good.
Whichever, it can still make for a decent night's listening / enjoyment.
(But I still mostly use Tidal :))
