WiiM Sound Picked up techradar's Best of High End Munich 2025

Exactly, this had been officially clarified more than once, yet cheapaudioman among others ignore it or simply can't be bothered with correct pronunciation. Superstar legend YouTubers don't need to be concerned with such minor details I guess.
not sure it's that big of a deal... almost everyone i know doesn't say BMW properly - the correct pronunciation is SO rare that the wrong one has become the way you refer to the brand. + it's just a brand name, afaik so it's not like we're butchering someone's family legacy in the process

many examples ikea, huawei, sega, hyundai, etc etc. almost NEVER pronounced correctly around where i live (some i'm guilty of myself like sega!!)

Right, like I said, just a minor detail easily ignored by the YouTuber crowd.

Funny, I've never had any trouble whatsoever with pronouncing any of the brand names you've listed, and the only one you've listed that I hear consistently mispronounced in the U.S. is Hyundai.

I reiterate that the point I'm making is it doesn't take a ton of time and effort to look into this kind of thing, and get that detail right. If someone is going to the time and trouble to video review a product, it is incumbent upon them to pronounce the brand name right, otherwise they are just another idiot YouTuber whose videos are probably fraught with all kinds of other inaccuracies too. If you can't get the brand name right, why would anyone think you've got all of the other details straight?

While YT videos are not literary works, there is a right and wrong way to do things. I'm not sure why you or others would be so averse to the right way, while staunchly defending the wrong way like some sort of 21st century badge of online honor. I guess if you heard it on an internet video, it must be acceptable/correct then?

I guess you pronounce Ikea wrongly unless you are from Scandinavia ;)

I bet you don't pronounce BMW as "bee-em-vay" 😂

That is correct, and I am aware that ALL Americans pronounce that one wrong, but much like the silent H in words like "white" I do use locally generally accepted pronunciations in many cases. That doesn't mean I don't take the small amount of required time to look into it, I am generally curious about words whose spelling makes it unclear to me how to pronounce. Still, there are various Chinese HiFi brands whose names I have no idea how to pronounce, for example xDuoo, or Loxjie, and I do assume that most YouTubers get a lot of things wrong.

Norwegians would pronounce BMW and BMV exactly the same way.
Now you know why we mess up the vs and ws when we speak English to the best of our ability.

In the 70s, we had a show in Germany called 'Der Große Preis' (The Grand Prize), hosted by WIM Thoelke. He was supported by a cartoon dog and elephant, Wum and Wendelin, who were created by Germany's best comedian, Loriot. The dog even had a hit in the charts...😆

Since I've had my WiiM devices, I often think of the three of them 😂

No matter how you call it or pronounce it, my german wife and I looing forward to the WiiM sound. I call it a thermometer she calls it a termo-meter, i call it a B M W she calls is a Bee EM Vey - we both call this new device welcome - actually I call it welcome, she calls it velcome or wilkommen!

lmao, wtf? chill out man. nobody is "staunchly defending" anything... just pointing out the fact that many huge brands have multiple "accepted" pronunciations, which tend to vary regionally. 🤷‍♂️ and you're saying it as if you heard about the WiiM products in a newspaper?? 😵‍💫

So it's ok when you do it with IKEA and BMW but not for anyone else to do it?? and you prefer to say SOME german brands correctly but not others...?

i'm trying to understand the logic.

The original point I made had nothing to do with me, or you, or how things are pronounced differently on a regional basis. Rather, it had to do with online reviewers failing to do even basic research/learn and use the correct pronunciation of a brand for which they are publishing a review.
I replied to your dismissive post on that topic, but don't worry, I am totally chill and have certainly said my piece. If the particular online reviewer in question (or any other) fails to pronounce the brands they review correctly, they only hurt their own credibility, and put their lack of professionalism on display.
There is no locally accepted pronunciation of "weem", thats not a thing, except in the land of cheapaudioman and other BS online reviewers. You may continue to mispronounce whatever you like.

You can hear the same thing in France (but I don't know where the bm"v" comes from in "common" language)
