I have a Wiim Ultra arriving Wednesday and I want to pair it with my Pioneer A-90D (100V unit) from Japan.

I've read the Wiim Ultra owners manual and though I was expecting to power the Wiim off my 120V house current, it looks like I can run it off the 100V Pioneer.
Is that correct?

I know what I just read but I came here humbly seeking validation.

Its switch-mode power supply will accept any voltage from 100v to 240v.

However, it is not recommended to constantly power-cycle it with the mains.

The Ultra, just like the other WiiM devices is designed to stay in standby with absolutely minimal power draw. Even better: you could actually automate the power control of your amplifier using the Ultra's 12v trigger output. If your amp doesn't have a trigger input, you might have to add something like this in front of your amp's power input:

If it was minimal power draw then leaving it on standby would be fine. Many reports say it consumes 5W in standby though. I always power off my Amp when not in use.

If I use the amp as the power source, I planned to connect the Wiim Ultra to the "switched" power outlet. So it will be completely off when the amp is powered off. This amp is extremely low mileage, it's run hard maybe every two weeks.
Other than what I assume is a slower boot time, is there a downside to doing this?

I have my WiimUltra going straight into my PrimaLuna Tube amp via RCA and it sounds completely fantastic! The device even calibrates to my passive speakers, I'm in Hidef/Analogue heaven, it's like I have a Pono in HiFi!!

Are you powering the Pioneer from 120V? If you are then the switched voltage must also be 120V.
