Wiim Ultra - Broken Bit-rate/Resolution Settings?

Greetings!

I’ve had the WiiM Ultra for five or six days and recently encountered a perplexing issue that I’m unable to resolve.

For the first few days, I was able to stream at 24/192 (via Ethernet and HDMI ARC) using the WiiM’s internal DAC and multiple external DACs (via USB) without any issues. All of a sudden, every input and output became locked at 24/96, whether I was using the WiiM’s internal DAC or my external DAC, which is capable of 32/192 sampling.Oddly enough, the WiiM won’t deviate from 24/96, even if I select 16/44.1!

This issue persists even after multiple reboots.

Picture/Video #1: Wiim playing incorrect sample rate (24/96) while connected via USB to external DAC.

Picture/video #2: Wiim playing incorrect sample rate (24/96) using its internal DAC.

Picture/video #3: Just for laughs, I rerouted my external DAC’s analogue output back into the Wiim’s analogue input, reprocessed the signal back to digital, and then reprocessed it again back to analogue. That incredibly cursed sequence actually worked and allowed me to select the desired resolution.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Note that the input resolution is for analog only and the USB out resolution is the max (not fixed).

So resolution of the streaming is dependent of the service.

What are you playing?

This issue only emerged a few days ago. Before that, the WiiM consistently adhered to the specified sample rates.

I have tested it with terabytes of FLAC files stored on hard drives, Amazon Music HD (which the WiiM was reliably streaming at 24/192 until recently and still streams at 32/24/192 when using my Schiit Saga+ preamp and external DAC), HDMI ARC (which also streamed at 24/192 until recently), and LMS.

Hi OurBodilyFluids,

It looks like you may have enabled the Fixed Resolution option in the WiiM Home App in your previous uses. If you prefer a fixed-resolution output, you can keep it on. However, it's generally not recommended if your downstream device can handle variable resolutions for optimal performance.

If the issue persists, please submit a support ticket, and our team will follow up with you shortly.
