Skip down to ****if you want to just understand my "fumbling/confusion"...
Hi folks, new user and first time owner of a WiiM Ultra here. I went from a very eclectic stack of discrete components on a custom mini rack I made from walnut and maple to now just a WiiM and my SMSL CD Transport sitting atop. I'll try and share a before and after in this post. My amp is now sitting out of site but still accessible when necessary, it along with the WiiM Ultra and CD Transport all powered on together from a wall switch via a power conditioner strip.
First I did a sub to mains sync (there was a 13ms delta). Then, before I even started listening to music I did a baseline REW sweep using my Umik-1 connected to my PC with PC sound card cal file and horz. cal file for the microphone. Running RCA from the PC to the line in of the WiiM. I'm pushing two NHT SuperOnes (orig. OGs from the 90's) alone with a DefTech Super Cube II active sub via LFE (sub vol at 40%). I have my amp (Fosi Audio BT30D Pro using a 48VDC ps with tone controls flat and volume at about 8 of 10) using the WiiM for volume control. I ran the sweep in stereo all speakers at a SPL of 75 dB(C) S for the baseline. I then did a number of RC runs until I found what I liked (it really does a good job between 30-600hz which most of my correction was needed. So now I have one PEQ that I use but this is where I'm "fumbling", allow me to explain...
My use cases are: Listening from: Optical in (CD), Wifi (streaming Pandora or connecting to my PC's flac library via PlexAmp), or Phono In). I removed HDMI from the list as I don't use this input atm. Then I send the signal to 1 of 3 destinations: 1. Passive 2.1 Speaker system. 2. Wired open back headphones. 3. Bluetooth headphones.
****Here's my confusion: When I listen to ANY input via passive speaker system I only want to use the PEQ I created. But when I listen to ANY headphones I want to use a custom EQ only. Right now this doesn't seem intuitive to me. On the Devices tab I have to click the gear icon, go down to EQ and select OR there are other places at times I can access such as when streaming from my PC via PlexAmp the vertical ellipse dots brings up a menu to select EQ setting.
Is there as way to permanently set PEQ for RCA out (which goes to my amp and onto my speakers) and EQ when headphones or Bluetooth out are used?
Or, is there user error going on here I'm missing?
Thank you
,
Roy
