Hi Wiimers,
I have an Ultra and an OSD amp coming in the mail this weekend.
I used to have a Mini some years ago. Unfortunately, keeping the SPDIF cable hooked up to the Mini was a source of frustration as were the disconnects from the Wifi. It ended up in the landfill in a moment of utter frustration.
Since then I upgraded my Wifi to a mesh sytem which is rock solid.
Now, getting back into the eco system with an Ultra, it will be hooked up to the OSD amp via USB going into a pair of Q Accoustics 3010i - it‘s a small listening area. It‘s the third audio system in the same space after a 7.1 surround system for TV and a classic stereo for vinyl,
CD, and FM radio duties.
The speakers were spares from a different hookup, and I needed a justification to keep them around.
So, I hope the Ultra and the OSD DAC-XA 100 will pair up nicely with the Qs. I was going for the Wiim Vibelink but decided I wanted a simple Class A/B amp with the option to power a second pair of speakers I have in storage should I decide to keep them around (I guess we all know the answer already).
It‘s going to be fun playing around with the WiiM and seeing what room correction can do. Probably I am going to EQ the heck out of it until I love what I‘m hearing - audiophiles be damned.
