Wiim ultra refusing to play certain Qobuz tracks

When I configure the Qobuz app on the Wii Ultra to CD quality, the files play without any problems; the same is true for Qobuz Connect. Admittedly, you lose the high-resolution audio quality, but CD resolution is more than sufficient while we wait for the issue to be resolved.
It doesn’t matter what the original resolution was or what I set it to, tracks that dont play, just dont play regardless, period. Whether I set it to cd resolution or not. NOT a resolution issue.

Qobuz have finally admitted this

We have identified a technical issue affecting the availability of certain audio files on our API.

The problem specifically concerns files larger than 50MB. It results in a size mismatch error between the requested and received data, linked to a partial object caching issue.

Our technical team is currently investigating to identify the root cause and the scope of impacted files. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

We will keep you informed of our progress.

Best regards,
The Qobuz team

Qobuz have finally admitted this

Wow, what took weeks? Is that a French thing with regard to international customer support or the lack thereof?
All 3rd party licensees using the API seem to have been left in the lurch for quite some time now, no?

I filed a ticket with Wiim support, all they suggested was different dns settings which I tried and didn’t make any difference. I also filed a support ticket with Qobuz and have not heard anything back yet.

It doesn't really say anything. A later response says they told partners about the discovered issue yesterday. Obviously WiiM are a little slow at spreading the news 🙂
WiiM is now responsible for being a (Bad) Press Agent for other Companies?? I wouldn't think the "Blame Game" would buy WiiM any future cooperation from Qobuz...

It is hardly a "blame game" when Qobuz have admitted it.

"Regarding the WiiM forum, we contacted our partners yesterday to inform them that the problem is identified and we are working on a fix. Some partners communicated to their customers, others did not. This explains why you see information in different places."

Correct! It also occurs with certain tracks on Audirvana Studio. Here is an example of a 192kHz/24 album LINK where the issue occurs on the first track. All WiiM streamers I tried either via Connect or through the embedded Qobuz app do not play this track directly Neither does Audirvana. The Qobuz app plays it fine at its stated resolution.

As others realized, when using the Qobuz app via Connect a WiiM streamer plays that track when the output resolution is reduced to either 96kHz or Redbook.
The track I posted before it is already fixed.

Several AC DC tracks will not play either. Think Im done with crappy Qobuz service, time to switch to Tidal.

The only workaround for now seems to be to reduce the max playback resolution to CD quality. Definitely not what I'm paying a premium for with Qobuz, but it avoids the skipping bug. I wish the company communicated what is going on and when it might be fixed.

Indeed ! I have a ticket running about that issue. They told me to update the WiiM Amp Ultra firmware . And what happened ? Nothing of course! Because it's obviously no WiiM problem, but the WiiM support think so... 🙄

Another update

Dear Partners,

We have identified the source of the playback errors: it is a caching anomaly with our CDN provider.

In practice, some distribution servers are hosting a corrupted or incomplete file. Since each audio quality corresponds to a separate recording, switching quality often allows you to fall back on a healthy file and work around the issue.

Our teams are currently listing the affected tracks and carrying out a gradual cache purge. The situation should be resolved very shortly.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

The Qobuz Team

Updating to Current Software/Firmware is Level 101 Customer Support, as it ensures Issue isn't a legacy resolved issue (wasting CS time).
Giving such advice / instruction doesn't indicate WiiM or anyone else is claiming responsibility for the reported issue - just taking 1st step in effort to resolve it for the Customer.
(Be thankful that you didn't get silence...)
