Wiim ultra refusing to play certain Qobuz tracks

The complete album from track one to track 10 is 24/96 in Qobuz. On every available streamer here and on the ipad it plays without any issue.
Ad far as I can tell the Qobuz app will only play at 16-bit/44.1kHz if playing on internal speakers or via AirPlay or Bluetooth. So it it will not use the high resolution track.

Is this about Airplay or Bluetooth? I thought it is related to a WiiM streamer. Mine is offline since this morning for reasons. Cambridge and Bluesound are ok here, in Connect and in integrated. My mentioning of the ipad was only related to the fact that it also runs flawless with no skips or refused tracks from one to ten.

What is the resolution of the track that wont play? The one played by @Wiimer is 16/44 only.

Is it the same on the iPad and via WHA?

Maybe the high resolution track is missing? On Tidal it is playing at 24/96

The resolution is 24/96 and on the ipad with qobuz app it says the same thing but will still play it. The thing is all tracks on the same album are 24/96 yet it only refuses to play track 7. Also there are other albums that are only 16/44 and still it will refuse to play certain tracks on that resolution so obviously it is not a resolution issue.

There are many but one in particular that it has played previously a while back and refuses now is:

The Alan Parsons Project
Eye in the Sky album
Track 7 Psychobabble
It will just pause and skip to next track no matter how many times I try
This particular song plays fine 24/96, but I encountered a similar problem here:

Djavan - Improviso - Um Brinde

However, the problem is only with Wiim Home; it plays in the official app...

It's random. I have albums where one track won't play but the rest does. The track will play in the Qobuz app just fine. It will also play via Roon on my FiiO R7, through my Raspberry Pi 3B, and via USB attached directly to my Roon server with the DAC set to Exclusive access mode, but when using the Roon bridge in my Audalytic DR70 or when using Roon Arc app on my phone, some tracks simply refuse to play.

If it is as Qobuz indicated, and related to their cloud migration, then there is little that LinkPlay or Roon can do to fix the issue, Qobuz needs to work through and resolve the source of the problem as they work the kinks out of their cloud migration.

Tested on Connect: does not work for me either.

Tested local playback via built in speakers on Macbook pro: works fine.

OK, people are talking about resolutions, which did not make sense to me until i did some more testing.

All testing done with Hunter's confirmed issue song:

The Alan Parsons Project
Eye in the Sky album
Track 7 Psychobabble

Qobuz is set for highest resolution in the app, 24/192. However, this album is 24/96.

Will skip the song via Connect. Switch to optical out, play off built in laptop speakers, etc all works fine. Same thing for any other source device I try to stream from, my phone(android), tablet, Windows laptop, Windows desktop, or a MacBook pro. All the same issue, skips via Connect, plays fine any other way. All of this is at 24/96 since that is what the album is.

So this time, I manually toggled the album from 24/96 to 16/44.1. Song plays via Connect now.

I then confirmed this with other songs I have seen people report online, as well as other ones I have seen it happen to. Every single one works when turning the resolution lower now via Connect.

So what is happening is specific songs at specific resolutions are missing only when playing via Connect.

Manually toggle the resolution to CD for problem songs and try again.

I think it is indeed resolution based, but it is per song, not album. Try your song again but set the app to be CD quality and see if it plays via Connect now.

Interesting. But seen from the outside they are self-created problems both by ‚hi-res‘ providers and consumers.
All it does is consume storage space, band width, energy, consumer attention and nerves. All for nothing. 44.1 or 48 / 24 is as good as it gets.

I dont believe it is. So then what do you set it to when it refuses to play CD quality songs? It also refuses to play some of those as well.
Holly Cole temptation album, refused to play track 7 and 8, all CD 16/44 resolution.

There seem to be similar issues with other players/devices - see this post and related posts https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/...z-issues-thread/page/232/#findComment-1334786

Correct! It also occurs with certain tracks on Audirvana Studio. Here is an example of a 192kHz/24 album LINK where the issue occurs on the first track. All WiiM streamers I tried either via Connect or through the embedded Qobuz app do not play this track directly Neither does Audirvana. The Qobuz app plays it fine at its stated resolution.

As others realized, when using the Qobuz app via Connect a WiiM streamer plays that track when the output resolution is reduced to either 96kHz or Redbook.

Funny thing is some recordings in 16/44 will not play but the recording you mention that all wiim streamers will not play supposedly is currently playing through my wiim right now as we speak🙄

Track 1? Not for me on 4 WiiM streamers. If you are using Qobuz Connect please check the output resolution setting. If 192kHz that track should not play.

And via Connect. Screenshot of the error message having jumped to track 2.

Yep track #1 was playing it as I was typing. Not using connect, just the Wiim app and wiim ultra player. Yet it will refuse to play other regular cd resolution 16/44 tracks, go figure.🙄
