WiiM Ultra to control a Wiim Pro - thoughts

I am thinking about using a WiiM Ultra on my desktop (where I can see the and touch the screen easily or use the headphone out on occasion) to control the stream to a preamp and speaker setup at the back of my room which is connected to a WiiM Pro by digital coaxial (the Pro unit is now 'spare' for me since I picked up the Ultra). I would group the Ultra and the Pro in the app.
Basically I am trying to avoid having to run a 6m coaxial connection from my Ultra to the stereo on the back wall of my room - and instead get the same outcome wirelessly.
What could be the downsides of that?

For some, the restriction of 48khz sample rate in a wiim group would be a downside.

The roadmap indicate that it is currently not Hi-Res:

Features We're Thinking About In Future Updates
  • Multiroom of Hi-Res Audio

Can't give you the link but it was the outcome I got when I tested it.
Yup, I just went through that myself. I get 16/44 with my pro+ synced with my mini but 24/96 unsynced. I wish that I read this thread before going through the hair ripping

YMMV but keep in mind that the convenience of the no cable connections (or group) may outweigh any real world experience of a bit rate increase above 16/44. For my use case in my study, I went back to a long cabled connection - but I often group Wiim's for background music across a few rooms of the house and find that very handy without caring about or noticing the rate drop.
