Hi folks,

Hope you can help.

I've managed to snag an Audio Pro C10 MKII at a bit of a discount from Audio Pro directly, and was thinking of hooking it up directly to a WiiM Ultra for a compact tabletop setup - does this make any sense? Likewise, I've got a compact FiiO DM13 CD player which could connect to the WiiM via its optical port as I understand, and then output to the C10.

As much as I'm into elements of audio, the fun of hifi in its more traditional form has eluded me...so any advice/guidance would be appreciated :)

Cheers!

Hi

If you already own an Ultra and wish to use the C10 as an active speaker, you can connect the Ultra's Line-out to the C10's RCA-in.

Thanks for this - I thought that was the case! No benefit to the Amp Ultra I presume, given the C10 is an active speaker...

Yes, you can't connect to the Amp Ultra.

However, if you link the Ultra (or Amp Ultra) via the WiiM app, I think you can achieve wireless group playback. 🙂

Yeah I got an email from them where they’ve knocked 45% off their prices - you can pick up a non-WiiM edition A10 mkii for as little as £130…

I got the C10 MKII for £162 - £180, and then an extra 10 percent off with a newsletter discount...seemed a no-brainer!

Any potential benefit for that as opposed to simple line-in?
I can't say whether it would be beneficial for you, but connecting another speaker to the Ultra would enable multi-room playback.

Furthermore, as there is no need to connect the Ultra and C10 via cable, they can be placed in separate locations.

That makes sense.

I've got a Naim Mu-So QB2 in my front room, and I don't suppose there's a way to integrate that with WiiM, presumably using something like Chromecast or similar.

I'm not particularly familiar with the Naim Mu-So QB2, but as you said, I guess you can create a group using the Google Home app.

Also, by connecting the Ultra to the Naim via its Bluetooth output and then linking the C10 and Ultra, you should be able to achieve multi-room playback between the Naim and C10. However, I can't say whether the Naim will provide stable music playback. Do give it a try.

If that's the case, that'd be an interesting setup! I'll do some digging when I get hold of an Ultra to find out, and see if it works. I suppose it could also use Roon if I wanted to go for a paid route.

The thing that's led me towards WiiM in a general sense is its integration with Plex, as I've got a lot of music stored on a server behind my TV.
