Hi there,

Yesterday I've played with equalizer in my Wiim Pro Plus. I tried both (graphic and parametric) but each of them gave me poor results. I was increasing bass frequencies 31Hz to 250Hz (2db to 3 db) and every time it gave me bulky non detailed bass. Detail in bass frequencies was gone mostly. I've set Volume Limit to 95% to give it some digital headroom. I tried lower values but results was the same.
I thought to myself... meehh maybe it's my speakers... They are not good enough to manage that 2bd frequency bass boost.

Then I tried Roon Magic happened! I could increase bass region even to 6bd and the grip and controll and detail was there!
So... what happened?! Is it not possible with Wiim because of hardware limitations? I run Roon server on my powerhorse PC so could that be reason for different results?

So 2 questions:
1. Is it still possible somehow to achieve Roon results on Wimm Pro Plus?
2. My dream is to have that Roon quality equaliser on hardware so it could be available for TV, CD, streaming etc. MiniDSP maybe?

I have always found Wiims PEQ lacking compared to Roons DSP engine using PEQ and compared to using Convolution their really isnt any contest. Same for its digital volume control to. I would take a guess its not processed at the highest bit depth to retain precsion but as its not documented so hard to say really. I use the Wiims for TV and not music but Music I use Roons engine it just works better in my system.

It's actually documented here:

I personally cannot find any audible degradation with WiiM's volume control.

Thanks. So yes it’s much lower in precision as it’s 32bit as opposed to Roons 64bit internal processing.
