YouTube Music please !

Firstly, apologies for my earlier senior moment - as pointed out by @d6jg when you use ChromeCast from your phone/tablet, you’re instructing the streaming service (in your case YouTube Music) not to send the music stream back to your phone, but to redirect it from the cloud direct to the device you’re casting to, in this case your WiiM device.

ChromeCast is typically said to be able to support streams up to 24/96, but a WiiM Pro happily supports up to 24/192.
However, this is rather a moot point with YouTube Music Premium - even when set on high quality, that’s only transmitting 256kbps lossy AAC which is a fraction of what ChromeCast can support. So using ChromeCast , there will be no further loss of quality.

If you use Bluetooth, the YouTube stream is sent from the cloud back to your phone which then uses the Bluetooth codec to compress the stream before sending it to your WiiM where the stream is decompressed and played. As Bluetooth itself is a lossy transport, it could be argued that the already lossy YouTube AAC suffers further loss of quality using that method.

I don't think there are network players who already have Youtube Premium installed (such as tidal spotfi etc.) correct?

I thought HEOS on Denon receivers supports YouTube Music, but just checked my newly updated HEOS app (which is way better than before), and I don't see it as an option. I wonder if they eliminated it when implementing universal search?

Already supported via Chromecast to all WiiM devices except the Mini.

Difference though is that Spotify make their API available to third parties, Google/YouTube not so much if at all…
 
Any update on the topic? Is there any discussion between Google / YouTube and Wiim? In the promotion video about Wiim Ultra there was a mention about yt music

Which video? I didn't notice this.

I've only ever notice YT Music in the "Features we're thinking about in future updates" sections on various WiiM roadmaps. That means, stuff they are not actively working on, let alone having a planned release date.

They go from the Line Out of each WiiM Pro to the line in of amps 1, 2 and 3.

The source is set to AV1 on the Yamaha.
The TB10D only have a single line in connector (red and white for stereo).

What am I doing wrong? A native Youtube from WiiM would so much simpler than this ;(

Or maybe just switch to Spotify. If only there was a way to import my hundreds of playlists...

You can create a group in the Google Home app including your WiiM and other Chromecast devices and play to all by casting to the Group using the YouTube Music app

Given that Sonos and Alexa integrate with YT Music, I think this should be possible (The API may not be public, but I am sure one exists). Would love to have native integration with it!

Alexa doesn’t integrate with YouTube Music as such - you’re perhaps confusing it with its ability to play videos from YouTube on its Show devices.

Oh sorry, I was confused. Apparently it supports Apple Music but not YT. But I know for a fact that Sonos does support YTM.
 
You know. API talk aside, they did tease that there was going to be integration for YouTube Music since like 5 months ago. To the WIIM team, enough people have begged away for this feature and it seems like it's coming but news or updates would be greatly appreciated.
This is honestly the one thing that's keeping me from buying the WIIM ultra, I'm tired of Bluetooth compression. And whilst YouTube Music is still lossy it has all my playlists and music that wouldn't be up on other services. No matter what the format may be, it'll be better than Bluetooth driven playback. Not to mention I'm looking to utilize the phono stage and possible multi room playback. Updates is all we ask including some timelines. Please and thank you

As has been mentioned, you can use ChromeCast to play Youtube Music to a WiiM device (excluding the Mini) which provides sufficient bandwidth for YT Music which after all is still a lossy service.

What do you mean by You Tube premium and high quality? Youtube premium has max 256 Kpbs.
