We are lucky that wiim is as customer focused as this. Not many big brands will have a forum where actual employees provide advice to developers directly.
Negative positing not promote wiim to keep doing this. We need to be postive and engage so that the products are better for everyone invested.
I'm quite happy to create a youtube channel that covers these aspects of audio gear!
I think ease of use is a huge part of people's engagements with the product.
To be clear, I want my system to sound as perfect as possible, but that's so I can enjoy the music, not because I obsess over measurements.
It's hard to enjoy music at it's best when it sounds crap. WiiM thankfully sounds rather good, when partnered with the right speakers.
That might be why my 80s amps don't pop, you turn them on and there's a distinct metallic click from somewhere inside the case ~4 to 11 seconds after turning it on, then you get sound.
I used to have a certain 70s Amp that had a "pop" that was almost the same volume as the music, the WiiM's gentle pop isn't that bad in comparison. Most my 80s Amps have no pop sound
The case of every amplifier I've ever owned is warm, this is a good thing since the case acts as a method of conducting heat away from the components. A warm case means the device is performing as expected, an overheat inside the unit will present it self with obvious faults when listening. I...
Most pc components are rated to 100c. Certain ones higher!
Remember if the case is warm it’s doing its job get the heat away from the wiims internals. This is a good thing!
Perhaps I’m weird but I’m the sort to configure my gear how I like it then leave it alone. My living situation means bothering the neighbours at 2am is not a worry.
So I am surprised when anything warrants a volume change.
I installed this and for the first time in months I have had to adjust the volume. It sat at 40 for months but now I need 45 to get the same volume. Did the update change something?
Why is having less features a better product? Never understood this at all. I have some vintage gear with EQs and filters and loudness buttons (all disabled) that knocks the socks off new gear that is 5x their original price.
If you need to add loudness from your WiiM then your amplifier would...
Surely this makes more sense to implement on the various amps, rather than the ultra, if the user wants loudness and they have an ultra, they can utilise the loudness function on their amp itself.
