Don't forget that 60s and 70s was an exciting time for hifi development, new techniques were being discovered in recording studios etc, so there was far more an interest in making impressive sounding recordings, to justify the cost of these things, than today.
Most devices fetch the DNS config via DHCP, so while the DNS itself is not related to DHCP, which DNS server you use can be.
This setting to choose to respect the router's DNS wasn't visible until today on my phone. But at least it's sorted now. Thanks for the replies.
While good hifi is affordable now, 99% of people don't have one, they listen on their phone, in the car, through their TV etc, so quality really isn't on the menu.
It is ironic that these same people who listen to music at 96kbs (DAB on their Bluetooth speaker) also are the same people who want...
That works for the IP but not the DNS server. I don't care about what IP address it has.
Every device on my network respects the DHCP lease's DNS config except for WiiM which always uses 8.8.8.8 unless that switch is off.
That switch is gone on the Amp Ultra, so the only option I have to specify...
The WiiM Home app lets me specify a DNS server manually if I set a manual IP, but not an automatic one, since WiiM likes to ignore my DHCP dns settings and use 8.8.8.8 since this setting is gone, I have an interest in setting a manual IP in the app.
I don’t have golden ears. However some speakers perform far better with more power than others. So for people with those speakers, this fact alone means the ultra gives them more options.
I have tested tested this with some of my own speakers.
Let people spend their money how they want. I was behind someone who owns a Ferrari on my way home from a car event in 2023 for a good 20 minutes, they were stuck doing the same 20mph I was in my 10 year old Mercedes, because traffic was bad. However I'm willing to bet that despite there being...
This is a great idea. And could also help simplify deploying new devices to your wiim home. Click one button to send all your settings to the new device.
Every system is different but the amp ultra has far more authority with my wharfdale Linton speakers, although they seem to wake up given more than 100w of power.
In the ultras usual home in my home office driving a pair of fyne f500s, there’s still a difference but it’s not as noticeable
My point is that an amp that produces 50w at 20hz to 20khz, potentially has more power than one that offers 100w at 1khz only, since the power required varies.
As such my vintage amplifier here is a more realistic measure of it's wattage, because it can produce that consistently at any point in...
