no-one touches WiiM for the ease of use options. I don't even touch the WiiM app and I can use every function I need.
If ever do need the app, it's excellent, has a tonne of features and doesn't lag.
All of that effort and some of the cables are clearly still brushing the floor 0/10
Standard power outlets in the wall 0/10
No Wiim products anywhere 0/10
Must try harder.
In case its unclear, I am just partaking in the humor
Think about old school recording consoles, the have wiring looms for multiple channels, that went through many effects boxes, yes I'm sure there's at least a mile of wiring between all the pcbs, wiring and other stuff that the signal goes through when it's recorded,
Remember everyone, the console unit that recorded your music includes miles and miles of tin, it's unlikely to be anything else, or the mixing console would be more valuable than a house.
It still sounds amazing when it comes out, so I think almost everything on the market is overspeccing.
My property was built a very long time ago, until recently, it still had cartridge fuses for the ring main, and those were themselves were added in the 1970s.
I can argue that my mains is dire at best, and yet I've never experienced a notable impact on sound quality because of it.

1. Plug in your wiim using all the provided cables that are needed in your system.
2. Say “oh well that’s nice” that wiim gives you everything you need in the box. No need to go cable shopping.
3. Turn on the wiim and any necessary equipment connected to it, depending on your setup.
4. Enjoy the...
I mean the screen has it's uses, when selecting the vinyl input for example, I am next to the unit, since it's by a turntable. Much like the physical buttons on my vintage equipment, both have their uses.
When I am sitting in my listening chair, around 4m away from the wiim, the screen is of no use to me, I suspect that WiiM has the same design in mind, it's functional, but the reality is that no-one is listening close enough to use the touch screen with a conventional hifi system.
Yeah I find the WiiM's volume pot feels honest. A lot of the other gear I own the volume pot seems like a marketing tool where 2 is much louder than 1, but 6 not much louder than 5.
I don't have this issue, I can get ear splitting levels of sound at around 60%, which is roughly equal to volume 3.5 to 4.5 (varies based on the amp) on my vintage setup. What is the sensitivity of your speaker?
Don't forget that 60s and 70s was an exciting time for hifi development, new techniques were being discovered in recording studios etc, so there was far more an interest in making impressive sounding recordings, to justify the cost of these things, than today.
