Hi everyone,

I'd like to suggest that Wiim considers adding support for two open casting protocols: FCast and Matter Casting. Integrating these would significantly enhance the flexibility and openness of our devices.

Below is a brief overview of each protocol and why their support would be a great step forward.

FCast: Fully open-source protocol for audio/video streaming, Supports DASH, HLS, mp4; mDNS discovery; Cross-platform and open source
Matter Casting: Part of the Matter smart home standard; enables app-to-app communication, Integrates with smart home for notifications; Built-in security (Matter fabric), royalty free

The key benefits of both FCast and Matter Casting stem from their open nature:

- Freedom from Vendor Lock-In: They are not controlled by any single company. This future-proofs our devices and gives users more choice.
- Developer Flexibility: Because they are open, developers can create custom receivers (for FCast) or deeply integrate casting into their apps (for Matter Casting) without restrictive licensing.
- Deeper Integration: Matter Casting, in particular, is designed for app-to-app communication. This means the phone acts as a rich remote control and playback isn't interrupted if you close your phone app. It also opens the door for smart home notifications

While adoption is growing, these protocols are already active:
- FCast: Is already supported by apps like GrayJay
- Matter Casting: Is currently championed by Amazon as early adopter. It works today from the Prime Video app on phones to compatible Fire TV devices and the Echo Show 15. Other services, including Plex, Pluto TV, and Sling TV, have announced upcoming support.

Adding support for FCast and Matter Casting would be a strategic move that directly benefits users:
- Become a Universal Audio Receiver: Our Wiim devices could receive audio from a new wave of apps that adopt these open standards, not just those using Google Cast.
- Appeal to the Pro and Privacy-Conscious Community: Many users actively seek out open-source and privacy-focused alternatives to major tech platforms. Supporting these protocols would position Wiim as a leader in this space.
- Future-Proofing: As the Matter smart home ecosystem expands, Matter Casting will enable deeper integrations

By implementing support for FCast and Matter Casting, Wiim would not only add valuable features but also champion an open, interoperable future for media streaming.
