Hi!

As totaly new to the Wiim Ultra, I have a few questions. Connected to NAS, I sometimes get the albumcover shown on the device display, and sometimes not. Shall the cover have a prefered name, like cover, or front? Fileformat usually is .jpg. Just today, I played an album that showed on the app, but not on the device display. I tried to change the name on the cover, but still not shown on the device.

Which media server is running on your NAS? Playing the music through the WiiM Home app through Home Music Share?

If cover art is displayed in the WiiM Home app it should also show up on the WiiM Ultra display. Are you storing album covers as folder.jpg or cover.jpg per folder? Finally, the media server either might or might not transform this image when sending it to the receiver.

My NAS is a Synology, and the music is played through Home Music Share. It seems like folder.jpg is more likly to be shown. Stored in every album-folder.

So, you're probably using the Synology Media Server.

There are some configuration settings you could play around with. Open the Media Server settings and click on Browsing Settings. Here you can specify a list of filenames that are acceptable for album art. Note that these are treated case sensitive, so make sure you don't mix up cases unexpectedly.

On the DMA Compatibility tab there is a button named device list. Click on it to see the list of devices that have connected to your Synology Media Server in the past.

You can assign one of a multitude of profiles to ensure best compatibility with your media players. There is no specific profile for WiiM devices and to tell the truth I only tried out the "Default Profile", "Default Profile with original cover" and "Generic DLNA". I didn't notice any meaningful difference.

There's no real documentation about these profiles. This is the best we get from Synology.

I think it’s fair to say that 90% or thereabouts of Music servers will support either folder.jpg or cover.jpg. Case shouldn’t matter but might.

front.jpg isn’t going to work with very many at all.

I thought I'd explicitly mention the fact that Synology appears to be case sensitive here, so folder.jpg and folder.JPG are not the same. Not tot talk about folder.jpeg, of course. ;)
