Alexa

To enable Alexa on you WiiM devices, you need to link your Alexa account under the entry in the WiiM Home app Browse page.

Once you have done that, your WiiM device should appear under the Echo&Alexa device list in the Alexa app.

You can then send audio from Alexa supported services like Amazon Music, Spotify, TuneIn etc (but not Apple Music nor perhaps Tidal) to it as if it were a real echo.

See the first half of this post (up to where it starts talking about the echo link/roon) for examples of how you can do that.

If you have any further questions arising from that, please ask

Hi

Can anyone talk me througt how to set up Alexa? And how to get it to work?

Thanks
You may also find this link useful re using Alexa commands to play music - it’s a long read and not entirely up to date, but very comprehensive.

Hej henning

So far so good, but what’s next?😅
Have you read my link above where it explains giving the device a simpler name, then use the WiiM remote to request music?

To help us pitch the level of advice we might offer, how much Alexa experience do you have in general?

Well I Didn’t see anything about “another name”, sorry

Why can’t I call it “Thomas’s WiiM amp” ?

Because most people will probably think you've spelt Thomas's incorrectly ;)
I guess it's to make the Alexa commands simple so they don't get misinterpreted?

Please tap the dining room group on the device screen in the Alexa app.

Is the group's speaker set to WiiM amp, as shown here?

if you are going to use Alexa voice commands then there’s a very good chance, as I explained in my link, that Alexa won’t understand a request like “play music on Thomas’s WiiM Amp”. Where Alexa is involved, it’s better to use shorter, more easily understood names, hence me calling my WiiM Mini “puck” :)
