Am I crazy? Roon Ready stopped working on all WiiM devices after latest firmware update

I’m hoping someone from the WiiM team can help with this.

After updating my devices to the latest firmware, all of my WiiM units have disappeared from Roon.
Devices affected:
  • WiiM Amp Ultra — firmware 5.2.809633
  • WiiM Sound Lite — firmware 5.2.810533
Before the update everything worked normally with Roon.

Current behavior:
  • Roon Ready toggle is still present in the WiiM app
  • None of the devices appear in Roon anymore
  • All other streaming methods (Spotify / Chromecast / etc.) work normally
  • All devices are on the same subnet via Ethernet
Diagnostics I ran:
  • _roon._tcp discovery returns nothing
  • Port 9200 on the devices returns connection refused
  • Device API (/httpapi.asp?command=getPlayerStatus) shows no references to Roon or RAAT

This seems to indicate the RAAT service is not starting on the devices.

I’ve tried:
  • toggling Roon Ready off/on
  • rebooting devices
  • rebooting Roon Server
  • rebooting network equipment
No change so far.

Is anyone else seeing this after the latest firmware update?

Thanks!

The fastest way to get a response is to rise a ticket via the app so WiiM can inspect your logs. This is primarily a user community and while WiiM do drop in from time to time, the forum shouldn't be relied on for support.

@RyanWithWiiM - could you please escalate this once those impacted have posted their ticket numbers?

Thanks I’ve made multiple tickets via the app over the past few days. I’ve heard nothing from them yet. Just wanted to see if the communities experience matched mine.

I'm having no issues with Roon finding Roon Ready devices including my WiiM Amp Ultra and my WiiM sound. I'm using the same WiiM firmware and latest Roon updates. Clients included my Android phone as well as my Mac Mini.

I have noticed times when Roon doesn't detect all my devices on the network. This often happens when I either reboot my Roon server and/or reboot my router. In your Roon setup for devices, if you're not detecting any WiiM devices as Roon Ready...are you at least detecting them via Chromecast?

I recall someone with this issue was successfully using them as Chromecast endpoints in Roon as a workaround, just not as Roon Ready

Therefore, a well-designed device should minimize the frequency of firmware updates as much as possible. Frequent firmware updates without a clear purpose and the introduction of impractical features will only lead to negative consequences.

Yeah, sounds like Roon need to get their act together in terms of their server software and SDK 🤣😜

Same issues and asked customer service to provide the previous firmware version. All problems fixed after rolling back to previous version. Can connect to Roon now.

Hey everyone, I had a chat with the team and confirmed that with the new WiiM Amp Ultra and Sound Lite software we've added the Roon SDK with support for their new protocol. You can check out an announcement post on it here. The solution should be to update your Roon Core software to get the RAAT 1.1.47 Code Signing. If you're having trouble after updating that, please send in feedback or update the support team on any tickets you might have!

We're working closely with Roon on any of these issues, so the more details we can get the better when it comes work going back to their team with identified bugs and issues.
