Currently, some inputs can't be automatically switched by auto-sensing while the WiiM device is idling.

As far as I know, auto-switching is not possible for these two.

1) HDMI to Optical-in
2) Optical-in to Bluetooth-in

Is it technically difficult to switch these automatically?

If so, I have one suggestion. That is the option to automatically switch input to Wi-Fi when the device's input is HDMI or Optical, after the audio has been stopped.

This is provisionally referred to as the 'Auto-Return Wi-Fi' function.

The main operation of Auto-Return Wi-Fi is as follows.

1) When the TV audio is paused on the HDMI input, the WiiM input switches to Wi-Fi.

1-2) If the TV is turn off while CEC is on, the WiiM will switch the input to Wi-Fi before entering standby mode.

2) If stop the audio on the Optical input, the WiiM switches its input to Wi-Fi.

Auto-sensing to Optical can work correctly if the input is set to Wi-Fi. Also, Auto-sensing to HDMI works in the same way and should not cause any problems.

There should be an on/off toggle and a time selector for this function on the Audio Input screen. The time selector allows you to choose values such as 'Immediate, 5 sec, 10 sec, 30 sec'.

[Possible problems].
Silence during playback may cause malfunction. Some countermeasures may be necessary.

What do you @WiiM Team, @WiiM Support and the members of this forum think? I welcome your comments and suggestions on this feature 🤗

Thank you.

Thank you.
A very important thread and I think it is one of the most basic missing functionalities at the moment.

I support this. I raised this already on the forum, in my opinion (or at least in my case) Optical In Auto Sensing is broken and unusable and i had to do workaround to Line In for Belkin Soundform Connect.

Proper Optical switching (to optical when source is activated, on back to other input - like WiFi, hdmi when other source is activated) would just make life much more easy and significantly increase Ultra usability.

I’ve just started using an optical source into my Wiim Amp and noticed that auto-sense doesn’t work when the last used source is HDMI. Seems to work ok when the last source is WIFI.

@WiiM Support can you confirm if this is a known issue still and if the behaviour I’m experiencing is as expected? Many thanks.
