Auto-Sensing of HDMI and Optical issue

It is strange to me that WiiM group HDMI and Optical together in the auto switching settings.
I agree, but I interpret this as perhaps indicating these two main behaviors...

Wi-Fi (Ethernet) >> HDMI
Wi-Fi (Ethernet) >> Optical

Thanks wavetomars. We'll check it out and hope to resolve this shortly.
Hi There. I've had my Ultra two weeks now and love it but I too am having a problem with auto switching between HDMI eArc and Optical In.
When I turn on my TV the eARC input always wakes the Ultra and always automatically switches to the HDMI input. And ... When the Ultra is already awake, auto switching works seamlessly between the Optical and HDMI inputs going in either direction from one to the other.
BUT when the Ultra is in standby and I activate the device that's outputting the optical signal (in this case a Sonos Port), the Ultra will not wake. So if the Ultra is in standby and I send a signal to the Port, in order to get sound out of the Ultra, I need to manually go to the WiiM app > Devices > Browse > select Optical In. Is there are way for the optical input to both wake the Ultra and auto select the input?

Interesting... My Ultra doesn't auto
switch from HDMI to optical at all..

Any update on the auto sensing issue regarding optical input?
I was about to post this issue and came across this thread.

auto sensing, the optical input doesn’t activate or auto sense when a signal is received.
I have the same issue with my WiiM Pro Plus, even though I have auto sense Optical selected. I just select Optical from the Browse page instead. But it would be a very helpful feature if it worked. Maybe a later update will fix it.

Strange for a pro plus, as it doesn't have hdmi in the mix.
Do you still have something playing / streaming when you start the optical and it doesn't auto switch?
i.e. if something is already playing then, by design, it won't switch. If you pause what's playing and then start the optical input it ought to switch.
If it's not working as expected, get it to "fail" and then submit feedback.

No, I stopped the WiFi stream then started the CD player but the WiiM didn't change inputs. Waited for a while but had to select optical. Not a big issue as it's not difficult to change manually, but as I said, it would be nice if it worked.

For me it's not a big deal either but - I got the WiiM to control via Roon, and because the auto switching doesn't work, I have to teach my wife how to open the WiiM app to switch sources then use the roon app to tell it what to play. That's the problem. If auto switching worked it would be just one app all the time. The WiiM app is great if you only have 1 device or if all devices are WiiM - but if you've got multiple roon ready devices, there should be no need to uses the WiiM app except for initial set up..

As I've played more with the audio devices in my network, I realize that Ive misunderstood my problem. Auto sensing or auto switching between inputs does indeed work. The problem, is auto waking. HDMI wakes the device as does sending a stream of music to the Ultra as a endpoint, its just that the optical input doesn't "wake" the device. It would be great if Optical in could be configured to Wake the Ultra or if the 12v Trigger to be configured as an input. I detailed what I'm asking for in the feature request thread if anyone is interested https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/manual-12v-trigger-control-in-out.5894/
