Autonomous operation of wiim amp with application without wi fi.

People are buying this as an integrated amplifier with streaming functions. Then they learn it doesn't work this way. I honestly don't see how you cannot see that use case. :)
Because I don't see why you should choose a streaming device if you don't have a network available. There are better options for an amplifier then.

That is actually what the WiiM Home App do when setting up the WiiM device. The device has its own WiFi AP. But that is still WiFi!

I think WiiM could change the software to use this if no other network is configured but I don't see the point.
The same as with the older Qualcomm devices. During this process I was able to save explicit this WLAN connection, results in the possibility to have also the direct connection solely (but I've never used it...).

How many other amplifiers have bass management and room correction?

Perhaps the Amazon product name "WiiM Ultra Music Streamer & Digital Preamp" is one of the reasons for the misunderstanding.

I don't see the point in judging why people would buy it for the "wrong" purpose. Fact is, they do. This is not the first request.

I'm not saying that WiiM need to take care of this use case. I'm simply stating the fact that some want to use a device as versatile as the WiiM Amp or WiiM Amp Pro or WiiM Ultra in such a way.

etc
(I recognize that for this kind of reasons I would rather adopt a classic mini system or even a more complete one...with a mini wiim etc...
no need to list the possible things in addition on the amp etc concerning the sub etc I know... I could list you cd tuner, autonomy in response ;-) )

I don’t think it would be unreasonable, especially for the Ultra with its touchscreen and its upcoming feature to select music from USB, to ask WiiM to implement some sort of “no-network” fail back mode with limited functionality, even if just to allow playback of a connected turntable or CD player for example.

but we're talking about amp amp pro right?
at least an minimalist approach for main commands via bluetooth would not be stupid...
;-)

Just use the already existing WiFi access point on the WiiM device. The mobile app then just have to access that as its WiFi.

WiiM has to allow the device to boot without network and open its own WiFi, as it do at setup.

Similar the app has to use the same WiFi used at setup when searching for the device.

reading you ... a simple "bluetooh remote control" would be welcome ;-)

As discussed in other threads, I think it would be good to have the WiiM devices to allow booting and running without network access, in case it fails. This can however not be a permanent setup.
