Bandcamp ?

I would LOVE to stream non compressed from Bandcamp direct through the Wiim Pro Plus but this seems more like a Bandcamp issue than a Wiim one. Until BC unlock uncompressed streaming there will be marginal gains from direct integration. Will still need to download and faff around with storage/local streaming to get the full fat goodness.

i'd love to have Bandcamp added to WiiM. but even after buying an album, it would still only play at lossy quality.
I think BC would probably not add loseless support anytime soon - as it seems they're focusing on creating (quality) content, not streaming

They don't create _ANY_ audio content, lossless or otherwise, as their focus is the sales platform, they create limited amounts of written content to boost the sales platform performance. The streaming part is in there to support the sales platform too and I agree, they don't have an incentive to offer better quality streaming before there is significant monetary benefit in it to pivot their business model that way (which would probably attract unwanted attention from the majors).
They do allow artists to sell lossless audio via their platform in the form of different formats over mail-order and digital downloads, which is one sort of lossless support.

show me where did I write they focus on creating AUDIO CONTENT?

Sure, "I think BC would probably not add loseless support anytime soon - as it seems they're focusing on creating (quality) content, not streaming". That is how grammar in sentences work IMO. If you mean their focus is on written content, I'd think that is not their focus either, but all of this is way beside the point.
The point was that they have no incentive and users will have to solve "this problem" themselves.

My solution was local MiniDLNA server (on a Pine64, kinda like RaspberryPi) for when I'm at home, when I'm on the move/mobile lossless doesn't matter to me (the difference is minute, even with decent IEM's and a decent DAC). That said, I'm looking into adding a personal VPN (like Tailscale maybe) so that would be kind of solved as well.

yes, where did I write "creating AUDIO content" ? oh, i didn't.
and of course I meant creating written content - I think it was pretty clear with "not streaming" following
btw, grammar is not "an opinion", it's a set of constant rules
all the rest is plain obvious:
Bandcamp does not want you to stream music on their website. period. there's a reason there's no volume control, no proper audio player, etc. I emailed their CS years ago about the volume being lowered when streaming on the web (it was even before they had a smartphone app) and they replied it's pretty much on purpose. not to mention the "broken hearts" pop up when you "stream too much" - it's an option tuned on by default when you a create a new album as an artist, and most indie artists just leave this setting as it is.

Since Bandcamp provide downloads which is all I have used it for, simply stating "not streaming" does not make it clear that you meant written content.

Anyway guys, I guess nobody wanted to make a fuss out of a pretty clear message. At the time it seems, Bandcamp only wants to sell content. They don’t want to stream content.

bandcamp doesn't "sell content". they sell music and merchandise, in physical or digital format - because that's how they make money in order to exist. they're not a streaming service.
also, show me other business that once every couple of months, forfeit huge share of its profits, AKA "Bandcamp Friday", for the benefit of artists.
I'm glad we got this cleared

Have you resolved the "streaming your downloaded BC files"-issue somehow?
If you have, I'd be intersted to hear your solution.
I didn't have an issue. I have just tried using the Lyrion plugin though and I can stream albums I have purchased but only as 128kbps MP3.

I tried to ask what is your solution to local file playback, if you have a local network solution for listening those downloaded Bandcamp files and what it is.

Most of my files are V0/320 MP3's, mainly because of disc space constraints, so ultra light DLNA server is quite enough. My "lossless listening" happens via CD, vinyl and Qobuz on occasion.

Ah OK. I add the downloaded files to my local Lyrion library and play from there.

We are here on a platform that is about streaming music.
If I write about „content“, then it is obviously about music! 😉
