Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Qobuz Connect

Hi-Res works fine with just one device on the beta and the rest not so why different for CD Quality?
That wasn’t really my question, it was merely if the other devices in the group needed the beta too, akin to all devices needing to support Chromecast if you wanted to Chromecast to a group of WiiM devices.

I'll be able to test that later this morning. Or perhaps the Pro firmware will show up in the meantime.

ETA: With my wife's indulgence, I ran a quick test. 16/44 is still distorted in a grouped setup with Ultra as the master and Pro as the slave. The Ultra plays perfectly on its own. I'll test again when the updated Pro firmware is available.

The Pro QC firmware update is now available. I'm in the process of updating two devices, and will test shortly thereafter. Can't speak to other QC-capable WiiM devices; anybody?

Yeah, 4.8.711349 just popped up for my Pro Plus, currently updating

Well, I just tested WiiM multiroom streaming (Ultra and Pro) with 16/44 content, and the distortion issue has not been eliminated with the new firmwares. Doesn't matter which is master and slave.

Both the Ultra and Pro are streaming to downstream DACs, BTW.

Would be good to have additional data points on this issue, if others can test. If anybody *isn't* experiencing distortion, let's compare configs/settings.

ETA: Hi-Res plays flawlessly in multiroom. Interestingly, I'm playing a 24/44 track right now...no problems at all.

Same issue with CD quality tracks when using Qobuz Connect to my grouped Ultra and Pro Plus, but as you say 24/192 tracks are fine.

Ticket submitted to WiiM - hopefully they can identify the issue and fix it.

I was speaking to a Pro user on DM who seems to be having a lot of issues using the beta (he’s on the latest firmware and app versions) with errors like “Impossible to play the track ‘xyz’ because an error occurred” on various tracks. Anyone else hit this in testing? I haven't encountered such playing on my Ultra or pro plus, and have just updated my Pro but so far it’s behaving itself.

No issues here thus far. I had one problem initially that required an Ultra power off reboot though I haven't been able to reproduce the problem after hours of play. I'm thinking it may have had to do with micro power outages that we suffer with from time to time. They're just long enough to cause a computer reboot though not long enough to cause a lamp to flicker. There are UPS units on certain equipment but not on the router or WiiM streamers.

My WiiM pro has new firmware. It plays CD Quality music like I have a cheap mp3 player from Ali Express. Great progress.

My Pro devices work great with Qobuz Connect on all content, so long as they're not part of a multiroom setup and playing a 16-bit track. I'm not using their internal DACs, which as everyone knows are not very good, but with downstream DACs of much higher quality. No complaints.

I don't use multiroom, don't have a need for it but I can help with testing if you would point me to info explaining how to set it up. I tried earlier but failed to get the master to work.

I wouldn’t worry the. Plenty of others have found same issue but sadly it is not a priority for them to fix.

Unavailable track problem:
Qobuz displays "unavailable tracks" at least either when an album is not yet fully available (some tracks are , others not), or when on a playlist an album has been removed from the catalog : the corresponding tracks used by the playlist from this album are tagged unvailable and greyed. Qobuz skips these unavailable tracks when playing the album or the playlist. Fine.
When using QC with WIIM Pro Plus as a player from an iPhone or a MacBook as a telecommand, these unavailable tracks are a problem : the track immediately before an "unavalaible track" cannot play and QC tries undefinitvely to load unsuccesfully this track . QC is locked. The problem can be reproduced.
Note that the track after the unavailable track can be played without problem as well as the track before the track before the unavailable track.
This bug is corrected with the 2025-03-20 WIIM firmware version.Thanks.
