[Bug] Album title truncated in landscape view on iPad

I don't know exactly when this started, but in the now playing view, the album title is truncated when viewed in the default landscape format on my iPads (3 off).

If I turn the iPad into portrait mode, the full album title is shown. If I then turn it back to landscape mode, the full title is still shown.

This is the case for Amazon Music, and Qobuz. Is anybody else able to reproduce this bug?

I noticed similar recently when they finally updated the iPad app to show artwork and metadata from Lyrion/LMS - the artist name was truncated. I didn’t think to try turning the iPad into portrait mode which does seem to sort it, even when I turn it back to landscape. I did submit a ticket but your additional info might be helpful when you submit your ticket.

Is anyone else with an iPad able to reproduce this?

After further investigation it seems that it isn't just limited to Amazon, and Qobuz, but in addition it seems like every album I play via Home Media Share (Lyrion Music Server, MinimServer), and My Music, are all also affected.

The issue is present on iPad Mini, iPad Pro 11", and iPad Pro 12.9", but may well be affecting any other iPad model. It is also present on the MacBook Air running the iPadOS version of the WiiM Home App.

It is fully reproducible, all you have to do is play an album, and look at the WiiM Home App Now Playing screen, with the iPad in landscape orientation.

I have just found that the artist name can also be truncated, and in many cases the album title is completely missing.

In all cases so far, I can get the missing information by rotating the iPad to portrait orientation, where it is shown correctly.

Then if I rotate the iPad back to landscape orientation, the full artist name, and album title are still present.

I would appreciate it if any members could try this with their iPads, and it would also be interesting to see if Android tablets were affected by this bug.

All of my iPads are on iPadOS 26.0 (23A341) firmware, and WiiM Home App version 3.3.6.

It is the same with all of my WiiM devices, so it seems like a bug in the iPadOS version of the WiiM Home App.

I can't remember whether this behaviour started before updating to iPadOS 26.0, so it would also be interesting to see if this affects iPads on earlier firmware.

Thanks for reading this post, I can add screenshots if required.

Is this due to different font sizes?

On my Android tablets, the title is two lines in landscape mode, but is not cut off in the middle.

Here is what I see for the same track.

Notice that "Montemayor)" is missing on my landscape view, but after rotating it to portrait, and back to landscape, it is present in the next screenshot below.

On Android, the font size of the artist name is almost the same in landscape and portrait screens. However, on the ipad, the landscape screen appears to be slightly larger. This may be the cause? 🤔

But why is the full information still shown after rotating the screen from landscape to portrait and back to landscape again?

It may be that a bug prevents the font table from resizing properly, but I'm honestly not sure..
Thanks for replying. Hopefully I'm not the only forum member who uses an iPad in landscape orientation with the WiiM Home App, and that other forum members are prepared to try to see if they have the same issue that I have.

Seems similar to the bug that prevents the EQ shortcut from appearing on Android devices in Landscape mode, which WiiM apparently have not been able to fix. But the truncated title/artist bug is much more serious of course.
Maybe so, but I guess the EQ disappears because the volume bar appears on the same row and there is no space left.
Moving the volume bar and device status below the control buttons would solve the issue.

The EQ shortcut does appear on iPads in landscape mode, but I would rather lose this feature, and not have the artist/title truncation that I currently have.

Hopefully there are some iPad users on this forum who will respond with details if they have this bug, and what firmware version they are using on their iPads.

I should add that this isn't just about long names, here are three screenshots of the self titled album by Yes.

Note that the album title is completely missing in the first landscape mode screenshot.

The second screenshot is after rotating to portrait mode, and shows the album title.

The third screenshot is after rotating back to landscape mode, and the album title is now shown.

It could be a coincidence but both examples have some type of duplication (Montemayor/Yes); have you seen it on others without?
Yes, it now seems to be on everything I play in landscape mode, but it can be made to show the full details after doing the rotation to portrait and back to landscape trick.

I have now discovered that it also does it on Radio Paradise, and the rotation trick is only valid for the current playing track, so you have to rotate it every time a new track comes on.

Surely someone else can reproduce this behaviour. 🤔
