Can’t play multiroom Spotify in Alexa

Is it possible to play Spotify in multiroom in Alexa creating a Group with Wiim and Alexa ? When I do that sometimos works and many others say “Spotify is not compatible With this device ”.

You can play it by connecting to an Alexa group via Spotify Connect.

It should work with no problem, Spotify MRM support is pretty much baked into Alexa like Amazon Music and Tunein. Next time it gives an error, raise a ticket via the more/feedback section in the WiiM home app.

How are you requesting playback, via an echo or the WiiM remote? What’s the request you’re issuing e.g. are you asking Alexa to play “on the group” or via preferred speaker setting?

When using voice control, Alexa may become confused if device name, room name, and speaker group name overlap or are similar.

Hi guys, thanks for the information.

I'll provide you more info to have a better understanding of the problema.

I have:

1. Alexa Echo Show 15
2. Wiim ULTRA

My Idea is to use Alexa Echo Show 15 as a "Monitor" to pick music not only using my voice, using the screen.

Both devices are configured in the same room, and also inside a Group called "Terraza" the same name of the Room.

When I say "Alexa play U2 in Spotify" must be redirected to that group or play instantly in both devices, that's the MRM function that Wiim advertise and also Alexa because Wiim works as an additional Alexa.

The thing is that what I really get is this:

Sometimes it play.
Sometimes is says "Spotify is not supported on This device". The funny thing is that I can see in the Echo Show screen Spotify under the covers of the songs, but I can't us it, and I can use it sometimes. If I change the speakers to ONLY Alexa Echo Show 15 plays perfect Spotify, or if I use Amazon music beside Spotify works perfectly in both.

Another fact is that when I have enough lucky to play in both, Wiim doesn't show the cover in the screen, is just playing but I can't use the volume control or the button play or stop in the Wiim.

Works perfect If I Use Amazon Music, but Spotify have some issues.

Speakers are configured as default, when you said "Alexa play music" Alexa goes directly with both speakers.

Unless it’s a translation error or typo, I’d never say “in Spotify”, but “from Spotify”, unless you have it set as default in which case you can drop mentioning Spotify entirely. “In/on” would normally prefix a room or multiroom group name. And as Wiimer said, using the same name for both a room/device group and a multiroom music group can confuse Alexa. In fact, having a MRM group with your devices is really redundant as having a device group with default preferred speakers is pretty much the same thing and can be used interchangeably.

Re the display, I have noticed issues in the past with the WiiM app not showing artwork for Alexa MRM, so it might be worthwhile bug reporting that via the more/feedback section in the WiiM app.
