Can Wiim app see and control other devices from other brands ?

Hi,

I just have one question before buying the Wiim Ultra Streamer.

Is it possible to control other devices from other brands (like Cambridge, i already own a CXN 100) within Wiim app ?

I seen a screenshot a few months ago of the Wiim app which was able to do such thing...

There's beta functionality that allows you to broadcast the audio stream of a WiiM device to other DLNA renderers (not in sync), but the WHA isn't a UPnP control point.
The above functionality is implemented as a device output (like Line, Optical, COAX) so the broadcasting device can't also be used for playback.

Thanks but what i have tried with the Wiim Pro Plus a few months ago is to group the wiim pro plus with other device from other brand and cast to this group was working perfectly

Some devices that use LinkPlay modules will be recognised in the WHA, but not normal UPnP renderers e.g. Sonos, CA, HEOS e.t c. What non-WiiM device were you controlling in the WHA?

I'm pretty sure it isn't though I don't know for sure.
For local media you could use a third party control point to control your LinkPlay devices and the CXN100 e.g. BubbleUPnP.

Yes, i am using Roon specially for multiroom feature. I will check for Linkplay modules in CXN 100...

In general, I assume disparate brands don’t work together unless there are pretty clear signs that they use Linkplay modules or their app is a clear variation of the WiiM Home app

As others have said, the WiiM app will work with just other LinkPlay devices for now. The only non-WiiM audio device that I currently have at the house is an Edifier MS50A speaker that see in the WiiM Home app to control volume and what is being played, multi-room link, set presets, set alarms, amongst other things.

What do you mean? WiiM home app already can access UPNP servers, and I thought squeezebox recently passed away…

If WiiM ever release a stable DLNA Cast implementation it should be relatively easy to build out third party DLNA/UPnP renderer support.

Ok, I googled it to remind myself and it was mysqueezebox.com shutting down. What is it then that you’re referring to when you talk about accessing squeezebox?
