Hello,
I would like to have a Headphone Amplifier connected to my wiim ultra in order to drive more powerfully Fiio FT1 Pro Planar headphones. I am considering Fiio K11 as such amplifier, and I think there might be more than one way to connect it to the Ultra. If I could get help clarifying if my reasoning is correct that would be great.

My Wiim is connected via RCA Out to a pair of Adam T8V Active Monitors, and this is how I listen to music out loud. I would like to additionally sit next to the wiim to be able to listen to music on headphones without altering the rest of the setup, but also not using Wiim's internal headphone amplifier, because my intuition (correct me if I'm wrong) is that it wont be quite sufficient to fully drive planar headphones like the FT1 Pros.

If I do Wiim-UBSA to K11-USBC In, I would be using K11's internal DAC? In this case could that DAC additionally be used to feed the T8V's if I wanted, bypassing the Ultra? Has that additional possibility been worth exploring for some people?

If I do Wiim-Optical or Coax Out to K11-Optical or Coax in, I would be using Wiim's internal DAC exclusively, and any of the two sub-options would be the same, or would there be subtle audio differences?

Besides the partoicular questions, any general insights regarding the different scenarios would be appreciated, and I'm sorry in advance if I am asking questions that were already asked in this forum (kindly point me in their direction if you will, thank you).

Any of usb, optical or coax out of the wiim will use the k11's dac.
If you use usb then the ultra can auto switch between the usb out and analog out by turning the k11 on / off (you have to manually select the k11 as the output the first time).

I don't know why, but I have had the occasional issue with 192khz over optical into a k11.
I've also had clicks between tracks using usb.
I can't say i've noticed any of the 3 connections to be better than any other for the music itself.

Yes, you could use the k11 analog out to drive the speakers.
Whether you prefer this to the ultra analog out only you can decide.
Personally, I don't like the k11 analog out, but do think the k11 was a significant improvement over the ultra for my headphones.
I've no idea how well the k11 will drive your headphones!
