Connecting active speakers

Wiim devices so fare are missing some kind of active speakers with integrated Wiim engine. So far I run a Sonos V1 System with 2 Sonos Connect and 2 Active Speakers in the bathroom and in the kitchen. As long as I could not by integrated active speakers from Wiim I love to got some speakers from an other vendor to integrate into my Wiim system. Could even be Sonos V1 or V2 systems. Without these speakers I could not hear my favorite radio stations in my whole flat in the morning with Wiim, which is a pity. I still had to use my old Sonos System.

Any experience/suggestions?

I would like to have your point of view on whether or not it is useful to connect an ultra WiiM via an RJ45 connection on my router. The music from the WiiM ultra is sent back via WiFi to two wireless connected speakers equipped with WiiM Mini cards (L+R playback). A subwoofer is used in combination via the LFE output.

Is there an added value in having a wired connection to the streamer while it broadcasts music via WiFi and not wired (except on the subwoofer). In case of connection via RJ45 and broadcast over WIFI, do you know how the WiiM Home app responds to this type of configuration?

If in your opinion there is an interest in connecting the WiiM Ultra on my wired router, which RJ45 cable category would you recommend?

The gap between the box and the WiiM Ultra is 2 m.

Some data below visible to date on my WiiM app 🙂

Speaker 1: WIFI signal strength very good
RSSI (Received Signal Strength Index) -43

Speaker 2: WIFI signal strength very good
RSSI (Received Signal Strength Index) -56

WiiM Ultra: WIFI signal strength very good
RSSI (Received signal strength index) -53

Thank you in advance for your recommendation.

The WiiM don't broadcast directly to your speakers. All connections are via the local network controlled by your router.

Connection to the local network using Ethernet (RJ45) may give you a more stable connection but else it doesn't matter how you connect to the network. The data is always the same.

If it's working now, then no need to change it.

As your ultra is so close to the router and the wifi signal strength is very good it really won't make a difference.
All your wiims and phone etc talk to each other via the router.
Any combination of wiims wired (ethernet) or wifi is fine, as long as it's the same network.

Thx Mr Ee, is there any setting in the app for the kind of configuration RJ45 in + active speakers out ?

What do you mean by "active speakers out"?

As said, all connections are router through the local network.

And no. No settings needed.

I think we're still confused (well, I am!).

I'm not sure what a wiim mini card is. Do you have an ultra and two minis, and each mini is connected to its own speaker?
Do you mean that you have the ultra and two wiim minis linked together in a wiim group?
If so, it makes no difference whatsoever if the ultra is connected via wifi or ethernet, unless, as hgo58 says, you are having connection issues with the ultra itself.

I have an ultra and 2 DIY active speakers which onboarded Linkplay modules. So I have a group 2 active speakers + an ultra for the subwoofer. I drive the group from the Ultra

In your case, not really. But if you can / want to use ethernet, why not?
At least you definitely won't have any wifi related issues with the ultra.

It doesn't care. You plug in an ethernet cable to the ultra and it just uses that to talk to the router.
The "minis" will still talk to the ultra via the router.
As the esteemed hgo58 said, "No settings needed".

which RJ45 cable category would you recommend
Any will do, cat 5e is more than sufficient. The ultra has a 10/100 Mbps port.
But get one in a nice colour ;)
