I was in a similar situation. I use Apple Music and was considering the Eversolo play. Ended up buying a WiiM amp pro for amplification and bass management for my RSL sub. Also bought an Eversolo dmp a6 gen2. Connected to the WiiM via rca. Works perfect for Apple Music high res.

Is something else using up your optical input? Probably better sounding to connect the DMP-A6 Gen2 to the WiiM Amp Pro digitally rather than analog.

Both fit my requirements, size wise and budget wise.
I’ve found a dealer in Wroclaw that stocks both brands, so I’ll make an appointment with them to demo this combo.
Alternately, I could just get them from Amazon as I don’t think that there’ll be too much of a risk, considering as to how and where I will use them.

I’ve had both and for me, I’ll go for the WiiM simply due to the output power. The Eversolo was just lacking in that area.

I'll be interested to hear how you like this combo as I currently have wiim amp ultra with dali spektor 2, but have been considering upgrading to the new soniks
I will let you when I get them.
The other thing I like with Dali, is that if ever you need a subwoofer to supplement the bass they have some small models, compared to other manufacturers.
We called into the Hi-Fi dealer in Wroclaw called Audio Plaza and a very nice chap helped us, fortunately he spoke English, which helped me.
They stock both Wiim and Dali kit, which is why we went there. They had the Wiim Amp Ultra, but didn’t have the Dali Sonik 1. (The Sonik 1 was in stock, but at their Poznan branch).
However, we had a demo of the Wiim Amp Ultra with a pair of Dali Oberon 1s to get a flavour of the kit and I played some tracks from my Qobuz Playlist to hear what the combo sounded like.
For a small streamer / amp and speakers it sounded quite good and we didn’t need to get the volume up past 50% to fill their demo room. I’ll be using it in a near field position so it should easily sound loud enough for what I want. The frequency range for the Oberon 1 and the Sonik 1 is 51 - 26,000 hz, and the bass wasn’t lacking at all which was good.
When we have moved into our new developer house, I will place an order for the Wiim Amp Ultra and the Dali Sonik 1 with Audio Plaza. Nice to help the local dealers.

And now making my first post as an owner of the Wiim Amp Ultra (I'll just say WAU for now)
A few things that took me to Wiim - better amp, a few Eversolo users had 'upgraded' to the WAU, cant remember the forums / posts etc... but the WAU was a better audio device.
The WAU gets a lot of love from Wiim: The Roadmap is very exciting, well worth choosing an Ultra over the other models - Im excited about the better room fit feature evolution, better sub balancing etc... this is where my attention is on.
So there we go: for me it was better hardware + more active development and love from Wiim for the Ultra specifically
