Controlling volume with a lovely analogue knob

Hi friends,

I know I can use the +/- buttons on the front panel, as well as the remote, to raise and lower the volume of the Pro/+ analog and digital outputs.

Other than running the outputs at line level and using a separate preamp with its own knob, can anyone think of a way to add a nice feeling analogue volume knob to the Pro somehow? For example, could I pair a device like the JBL Click to the Pro itself over Bluetooth? or (assuming I am comfortable opening the case, wiring, soldering, etc) make some kind of circuit that turns the movement of the knob into simulated taps on the +/- buttons?

Get a WiiM Amp when it comes out. That would seem the most straightforward solution if you like what the WiiM Pro/Pro+ can do functionally.
