For open network streams: Is there a possibility to include cover art or at least the station logo (assuming that these are provided in the meta data of the stream) so that it is visible on the wiim ultra? Or is this a feature that is already planned to be implemented?

Hi Valimir,

If the stream's metadata is provided, it will be displayed with the current WiiM Ultra firmware. If it doesn't work for you, please submit a ticket from the WiiM Home App so we can resolve it for you soon.

We're currently working on optimizing the open network streams further. Please stay tuned!

I have a handful of hi-res radio stations saved on my ONS, including Motherheart, Paradise, Octave, SuperStereo…None of them show song info or cover art.

How did you check if the streams contain the required metadata?

It's not well known if @renpar61 is using the correct URL, so I was asking.

The FLAC + metadata stream is a bit tricky, btw.
I just copied links found on the web, for example:
The link for Octave records was copied from PS Audio website.

How do I know which one is the "correct URL"?

Can someone post one that works (with metadata) with their Ultra, so I can test it?
Thanks!

No song info, no cover data.

If metadata is displayed in the WiiM Home app and on the touch screen, then the URL is "correct". There's no guarantee that you can even find a streaming URL containing meta data for every Internet station.

shows song info on my WiiM Amp Pro, but no cover art. Maybe LMS can do it better, I don't know how LMS made it into this topic.

But why would you want to access Radio Paradise through ONS anyway? It's available as a built-in music service. At least the Main Mix, Mellow Mix, Rock Mix and Global Mix (Radio 2050 and Serenity are still missing).

I admit I don't know much about this (btw, what's LMS?).

Thanks for the info anyway.
I usually stream Tidal, that's 95% of my digital listening. I was just curious when someone mentioned hi-res jazz stations available on ONS, so I tried a few.
No big deal.

I didn't want to discourage you. :) There are many fine stations out there, nothing wrong with trying them out. If a music service is integrated into the WiiM Home app there's no advantage to manually dealing with streaming URLs.

Services like TuneIn or vTuner try to relieve you from the work of hunting after streaming URLs manually, but you never know if they serve you the best possible quality. Dealing with TuneIn favourites has always been a mess, and their own app and web interface are awful. vTuner doesn't offer their streaming services to end users directly but rely on selling it to streaming gear manufacturers. This approach comes with it's own downsides. As of writhing this, vTuner does not work for customers e.g. using devices from Teac, T + A, Pioneer, Naim, Lyngdorf while it works on devices from e.g. WiiM, Yamaha, Onkyo, Harman Kardon (see here).

So, there are still reasons to create your own collection of streaming links. It's just if the stream carries no meta data then there's nothing to be displayed in the WiiM Home app, be it title, artist or cover art. And, of course, these links can break any time, too:
