Deezer Deezer won't play from Wiim home app

Hey everyone, while I don't have the good news I wish I could share today, I do want to circle back to say you haven't been forgotten. Our team is actively working with Deezer on improving things to find solutions for playback issues you've reported.

We're working on some potential solutions on our end as well to try and improve the overall stability.

I know what you really are eager for is a timeline and a solution, for now I have assurances that it's being worked on and as soon as we can share more we will. Thanks for you patience and for sharing your feedback!

Yes, that works. But that is not the solution. It's temp workaround
I didn't suggest it was a fix, I was responding to the "now i have a 300 bucks sensless(sic) device" comment. The workaround of using Chromecast doesn't make it a senseless device.

OK then... didn't see you answer on that part of quote. We can agree that than it's at least 150 bucks sensless device 😀

Don't forget us. And please don't just stay on chromecast option

I'd raise that to 250 at least, if not more ;)

While you're losing gapless playback (which some might value, some may not), you do get full access to all the features of the Deezer app rather than the potentially cut down set they expose thru their API. I often advocate the use of the native streaming service app and casting especially where (unlike Deezer) there is a proper casting mechanism in place such as Qobuz Connect, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect or Amazon's AlexaCast.

There is a matter of remote control, presets and pressing i.e. number 1 and music starts.

So... 200

I'm not a Deezer subscriber, but I've just downloaded the app to my ipad and can use Google Cast to my Ultra by selecting the speaker icon then my Ultra under the Google Cast section. Given Deezer is just CD quality, Google/chromecast is more than able to handle it
Thanks for that hint!

The "just use Chromecast" option doesn't work for those of us with Mini's. I'm probably going to just switch to Tidal for streaming (and I left a comment when I cancelled Deezer about why I'm cancelling). This whole situation has soured me a bit on Wiim as well and made me seriously rethink whether I'd want to upgrade to another Wiim later.

"Just use AirPlay" though does work for Minis if you have an iDevice...

Me too... Tidal works great for now. Will try again with Spotify for a trial month. Meanwhile, looking for another streamers. Not gonna rush it, I have couple of months. Even if I pay more will look for something stable.

Even when/if they fix this, new trend is that firmwares takes not days, now its weeks to roll out to our devices, so it is easy to foresee that we wont have working deezer for another whole month for sure.
And still on website they have deezer icon besides Stream Everything You Love.
There should be asterix to explain that is possible only via chromecast.

I'm sure you don't mean them that way, but your replies come across as very dismissive. I really shouldn't be totally screwed because I have a Mini and an Android device.

I'm generally pretty patient with updates needed to fix technical issues. Things happen. The length of time it's taking to address this is the real issue. I'd have been fine with a couple of weeks. I'm starting to doubt it'll get fixed this quarter.

I'm suggesting workarounds that I'd use if I were in this situation. I admit workarounds are never ideal and won't necessarily cover every use case, but as with @TheZoo's response above, they do suggest a temporary solution that was otherwise unknown to some users . And even if it means having to resort to Bluetooth in your case, I'd contend you're not "totally screwed".

I admit I may appear over optimistic in expecting WiiM and Deezer to come up with a solution, albeit it might take some time, but I know from past experience that they will pull out the stops and fix it.

Lets all face it, chromecast is clunky and a bit crap... it's a workaround, but not one I am happy with for a prolonged period :(
Eagerly awaiting that fix timeline...

Please be aware that quite a number of these massively repeated "Deezer isn't working" posts come off as whining and entitled.
There are veiled (and overt) threats to abandon WiiM and trash its Reputation (and even seek Legal Recourse).
And the efforts that WiiM have made to communicate their awareness and efforts to resolve the Issue are discounted and outright dismissed, or else chided for taking longer than the more impatient are willing to allow (even admitting they have no experience with cross-organizational collaboration required to resolve API Implementation issues).

Although I am inclined to agree, and I would ditch Deezer before ditching WiiM... the first responses I got from WiiM support were dismissive along the lines of "It's a problem with Deezer's servers, goodbye"

And... It turns out the issue is/was Deezer's, even if they forced WiiM Dev to react.
But... Are you paraphrasing their response?? Did you really get a ", goodbye"?? Or were you simply disappointed that they didn't give you either an immediate Action Plan for Resolution (what company gives such to customers?) or at least a Timeline??

I'm not going to die on this hill defending WiiM, but I spent the good part of a career in Software QA and Internal Customer Support - and I know the difficult and fine line between responding to Customer Issues and making Inappropriate Responses / Commitments...

Please be aware that is hard to communicate with all of you WiiM "advocates". I whine to wiim and deezer because it doesn't work something I payed for and not a single word for months.

Definitely paraphrasing... that's how it felt.

If the response had been that Deezer changed their API and WiiM did not have prior knowledge so apologies but it will take us 2-3 months to update our firmware and address the issue, I would have had zero complaints.

As an IT engineer, a response like "it's the server" just feels like the lazy way to close a ticket.
Don't get me wrong though, it's not like Deezer support is any good.. so I guess we're all stuck in-between a rock and a hard place.
