Disappointed with the Wiim Ultra RC

I am very disappointed with the Wiim Ultra RC, and also cast my vote for adding DIRAC compatibility. Initially, I used the Wiim's RC because I thought it would improve the sound, but after reading the manual I realized that it was significantly altering the sound so I turned it off. After disabling the RC, the soundstage opened up phenomenally and the sound was so much clearer and more detailed that it was like a major system upgrade.

Which microphone were you using? That is normally the reason for poor RC results.

Another can be using the precise RC which for me did not work at all.

For my B&W 805S and my room I reached top quality with correction from 35-250Hz and then adding a sub out at 42Hz (although I don’t have a sub).
I had this results with iPhone 11 mic and after several tentativas, frequency ranges and so on.
I’ve even got back to my Lyngdorga room perfect and surprisingly I prefer this specific WiiM correction configuration.

I'd like to understand how reading the manual changed your perception. ;) By definition, each and every RC software (including each flavour of Dirac) significantly alters the sound. If it didn't it wouldn't do anything.

However, it's very easy to get bad results with RC. There are countless combinations of settings that will influence the result one way or another, also depending on your particular room.

If you post a thread with your setup and your RC settings, there are a number of most knowledgeable community members here who will happily help you get better results.

On page 18 of the Wiim Ultra manual, in the notes it says that if you want bit perfect output that you disable EQ, which of course means that you're not using the room correction.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that. Effort is required to get RC to deliver good results. Some might achieve it first time - but I get the feeling you expect perfect results for minimum effort. No RC will do that. I also have DIRAC on 2 receivers but now will only use WiiM RC as have achieved much better results.
'Bit Perfect' I think is a little overated. Only useful if you have the perfect room - even then I doubt many could tell the difference if not bit perfect.
Give Wiim RC another chance - it truly is excellent.

I just ran the RC with the parameters you suggested. How do I know that RC is being applied? The settings show Equalization is off, and I don’t know where to look to see if RC is on.
