DLNA

Excuse me...
Is it finished?
No longer in beta?
It's been so long in coming...
I haven't been following( I'm not involved. )
To be able to answer friends' questions on this subject...
(with AirPlay support...the question that always comes up a little)

DLNA Cast is probably no longer in beta. ("Beta" has been removed.)

As far as I know, DLNA casting is available on the Ultra, Pro Plus, and Pro models.

Based on my tests a little while ago, casting to a single WiiM device works fine. However, when casting to multiple devices, I experienced dropouts and synchronization issues. Casting to non-WiiM devices was also unstable. (In my case, I tested it with a Yamaha AVR.)

Also, regardless of the number of devices connected, there is a sound delay of about 1 second, so it can't be used with a TV.

It’s possible that performance might be stable if all devices are connected via Ethernet, but I haven’t tested that yet.

WiiM devices, even the Mini, support DLNA out of the box, but as players. If you mean DLNA casting i.e. sending output over DLNA to non-WiiM devices, then I refer you to @Wiimer's response.

This may surprise some people here, but I Have officially given up on the DLNA Casting feature ever becoming a viable casting method from WiiM devices.

Perhaps I had set my expectations too high, in that all I wanted was a multi room casting method, that could cast to any AirPlay or DLNA compatible speaker, and offer similar features to those available when casting from an Apple device.

I would have liked to be able to cast at a bit rate up to 320 kbps, but this has not been possible in the betas.

I believe DLNA casting is just available on the Ultra but not on the Pro or Pro Plus except maybe in the old Beta.

AFAIK thats the current status.
The Beta for the Pro is dated 2025-01-22.
Maybe WiiM forgot that they ever started a Beta for the Pro ... ;)

The beta is still available for the Amp, Pro, and Pro Plus. It may also be available for the Amp Pro. 🤔

My Pro is running the latest official firmware.

And it has DLNA Out. 🙂

I don’t have Pro Plus, but since Pro already supports it, I assumed PP would too.

I have two WiiM Pro devices running the same official firmware version as yours, and they don’t have DLNA out, and nor does my WiiM Pro Plus running the latest official firmware version. 🤔

That's strange...

I'm casting from Pro to Ultra via DLNA Out, and it plays just fine.
